Roll, roll, roll your dou

11/26/2008

My boss had mercy and let me go about a half hour early today. I picked up carryout pizza on the way home and pulled the water smoker from the shed before it got dark. I came inside and searched through my recipes to find the breadmaker cloverleaf roll recipy, it's kneading in the breadmaker at this very moment. I'll put that in the fridge when it's done with the first rise then make the herb butter. I was already planning to brush the turkey with herb butter anyway, and I'll need about three tablespoons of herb butter for the rolls so I'll make an entire stick of herb butter and reserve the three tablespoons.

I have the hickory chunks soaking in the smoker water tub; I added balsamic vinegar, vermouth, and a can of beer to the smoker water. Once the wood chunks are ready I'll put some herbs into the smoker water. I'll put the turkey breast in the smoker around midnight and let it smoke until about 6 AM, if it's not ready (and I don't expect it to be ready by that time) I'll bring it inside and put it in the oven wrapped in foil at about 250° until done.

Stepson told Spousal Unit to expect him some time between noon and 2 PM, I'm shooting to have the turkey done some time between 9 AM and 10 AM so it can cool and be carved when he's ready to eat. She can get in the kitchen to make the Stuffing in a Box and heat the corn, I'll arrange the dough in the muffin pans and have it ready to bake the dinner rolls when he arrives. I'll probably wait to whip the cream for the pie topping until after we eat.
