I finally uploaded the photos I took in California (and two I took from the window of the airplane) but I hate to show them. I don't have my photo editor loaded on the new laptop yet so I couldn't tweak the lighting and contrast. Anyway, here goes:
From the window of the airplane on the way:
Newport Beach, and the municipal pier:
This will be a cool shot when I fix the exposure a bit. It was almost dark, right at sundown. The clouds were amazing, I had to delete a beach photo and reduce the image resolution to get these photos:
I'm signed up for a concealed weapon permit class at work. They posted the class on the board outside our cafeteria, by the time I went to sign up the original class was full but they created a second one on the following weekend. It will be all day Saturday, Feb. 28 then all I'll need to do is get fingerprinted and fill out some paperwork to be legally allowed to carry a concealed handgun. I ordered an inside-the-waistband holster and 100 rounds of ammo that the class requires, I just need to decide whether to bring my 9mm or my new Five-seveN. I'll probably wait for the holster to arrive and see which one feels better to carry. I lean toward the 9mm because it's an inexpensive gun with inexpensive ammo but I suspect I'll be a better marksman with the Five-seveN and it's better for longer range work. I'll probably compromise. The 9mm will probably be my car gun, if somebody steals it there's no huge loss. I'll keep it in the holster, if I'm in the car and end up in a situation that makes the hair on my neck stand up then I'll attach it to my belt and have it handy. If I leave the house carrying, for whatever reason, I'll take the Five-seveN (if it does turn out that I prefer carrying it, that is). I'm thinking in terms of protection when I'm going to our outdoor test facility to test machine guns, that's a large quarry where I might have to engage a target at 200 yards. |
