I was going to do some barrel testing with a fully automatic carbine this afternoon but when I went out to our firing range (which is very small and only has three lanes with no partitions) there were at least eight people out there and they were firing pistols, a bolt-action hunting rifle, and a belt-fed machine gun. I just peeped through the glass and saw that there was a Mongolian goat roping (thanks to Finding Freedom for coining that PG-13 version of the more common [in more ways than one] expression) going on inside, and I put my carbine away for the afternoon.

Just as I had expected when I wrote last night’s entry, it’s been rainy and miserable all day today. I awoke with a stuffy nose at 4am and when I couldn’t go back to sleep I got up to let the dog out. It was raining lightly then and it’s rained lightly almost all day. It’s a good day to be indoors at work, it would be miserable to be outdoors today.

Speaking of rain, I don’t think I wrote about something that happened last week. I had driven home for lunch and just as I arrived back at work and was parking my vehicle a rather strong storm hit. The wind was blowing strongly out of the north and the rain was not only pouring down but was also blowing almost horizontally. I have some 200 yards to walk before I reach the shelter of a building and even with my umbrella I was soaked from the hips down by the time I got within 30 yards of the nearest building. That was when a swirling gust of wind grabbed my umbrella and ripped it to shreds. By the time I reached my desk I was soaked to the skin, cold, and my shoes were full of water. I turned on the portable heater under my desk to attempt to dry off and I removed my shoes and socks. I wrung a half cup of water out of each sock, I think. Once my legs were almost dry I hung one shoe and one sock over the heater to try them out, then repeated with the other shoe and sock. I was almost dry by the time I left work at the end of the day.

RYC. We don't have rinks everywhere here either, but I still have 2 rinks a couple of towns away from me. And there are a couple in Paris itself too. I know there is a rink in Clearwater, FL, because I have been watching some tutorials on youtube that were filmed there. And doing a quick search, there are a few in SC and NC.

Oh my! Talk about an adventure just to go from your car to your work place. I hope it gets better for the weekend so you don't have to be stuck inside.
