NoJoMo 1

11/01/2010

I doubt I'll manage to get all the way through NoJoMo but I'll give it a try.

A friend of mine who lives up near Charlotte had a stroke a couple of weeks ago. Another mutual friend and I drove up to visit him on Saturday morning, we stuck around for a couple of hours then went to visit his brother since we were in the area. I didn't get home until 7:30 PM, I think. He's taking it better than I would, and better than I thought he would. He doesn't have movement in his left arm or leg but his speech is almost unaffected. His memory is mostly good, but with some holes in it. All in all it could be worse, and his brother says he's made a dramatic improvement in the past two weeks. He played bass in a Bluegrass band and built the scale model cars (and hand-lettered them!) before the stroke, I doubt if that sort of dexterity will come back.

I've been far too lazy when I get home from work in the evenings. Although I did bake home-made pizza tonight, yum!
