I bought a used car today, something for my wife to replace her old Aztek. The Aztek is still running well but it's almost eight years old and it was just time to get something with a warranty and that hopefully will be a little more economical. She likes cars that are best described as "tall wagons" or "small minivans". Before the Aztek we had a Mitsubish Expo, which was so much like a small minivan that it even had a sliding rear door. We have no use for a traditional minivan with the third row seat but a tall wagon is ideal. We bought a 2009 Kia Rondo, according to the CarFax it was originally a rental car put into service in January of 2009. No accidents or repairs on record, it had been driven 12,300 miles. I saved over $6000 compared to that same car, new.

I'll be taking the Aztek as my daily driver, I'm keeping the GTO and getting rid of the old Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo has 160K miles, it looks like crap (it was in hail during a tornado and the paint is starting to fade badly) and it's starting to have mechanical issues.
Also on the positive side, I got a 3% annual raise today. The boss apologized for it being so small, under the circumstances I wasn't expecting even that much. So that will help pay for the car lol. |
