I drove to Atlanta with a friend to attend a large show for scale model cars. I didn't bring anything to enter but I love attending and not only seeing all the builds but also meeting the builders. I know several people who come from much further distances than I do just to be at the show, the only other time I get to communicate with them is online.
This was one table. There were four of them, all just as full, and some overflow on the stage for larger displays. The quality was higher than I’ve ever seen at a show. 610 models, all of them outstanding. All but maybe a dozen were 1/24-1/25 scale, or roughly 7"-8" long. I have one photo of a larger scale model in here but the rest of the fantastic detailing you see was done on the regular small model car kits. Pardon me while I go home and stomp on all my kits:

This guy won Best in Show. The photo doesn’t show the detail he did, right down to lug nuts and all the plumbing and wiring. The blue and red? All painted, including all the fades. The only decals are the lettering and logos.

Here are more especially noteworthy or impressive builds:

I'll try for more of an update later. |
