I had to take a couple of hours off from work yesterday afternoon to bring the Spousal Unit to the doctor, she had a stomach virus and had a temperature of 103 when the doctor examined her. When I was carrying her home I cut through our shopping village thing (like a mall, but one of the new developments where all the stores have outdoor entrances and are laid out to resemble an old downtown area) to drop off her prescriptions at the pharmacy. I was behind a late-model Lexus midsize SUV and at the stop sign I noticed that it was a hybrid model. I also noticed that it was equipped with the standard-issue SUV trailer hitch receiver. That made me wonder just exactly what on Earth kind of trailer they were hoping to tow with a hybrid SUV! While I’m all for saving as much fuel as possible it seems to me that developing a hybrid SUV is rather like developing a pig that has no ham; it might be better for us but it completely defeats the purpose.
Spousal Unit is doing much better, by the way. She slept through the night last night and seemed to be feeling better this morning. I think I’m finally getting used to the Eastern time zone (it’s only been a year and a half, after all) because I’ve been getting sleepy around 11 PM and generally getting to bed before midnight this week. I rather hope that continues, going to bed at 2 AM was getting old even for a night owl like me. Of course, Daylight Saving Time will probably screw that up again!
I’m trying to avoid catching whatever variety of The Crud is afflicting the Spousal Unit, I have a road trip planned for this weekend. A friend is picking me up Friday morning around 7 AM and we’re driving to the Charlotte area to have lunch with a couple of guys he knows who work in the Hendrick Motorsports chassis shop. We might meet up with another friend who will be driving down from West Virginia for the weekend, I haven’t really worked out the details for the afternoon/evening yet. We will be staying in a motel Friday night so we can get an early start on the model car swap meet in Salisbury, NC Saturday morning. We’ll be returning home Saturday afternoon. I don’t think they have a show/contest at Salisbury so I probably won’t have photos but I might get some while I’m at Hendrick. I’m not sure what they might have on public display at this facility.
Note to self: I need to go by WallyWorld or Orifice Depot and pick up some of those little neon self-adhesive paper circles for pricing the model kits I plan to bring to Salisbury to sell. |
