Getting ready for the holidays

12/08/2009

Our office Christmas potluck lunch is this Friday, and the Christmas party for the whole factory will be the following Friday (the 18th). Then I'll be off work until January 4th! I'm really looking forward to it. It's been chilly and wet ever since the day after Thanksgiving and it seems that it rains every second or third day. Today looked like snow weather if it had been a little colder, it was grey and damp and cloudy all day. It rained for a bit before lunch then started for good around 3 PM. Just enough to make things messy and miserable, and cause the traffic to be awful. I had received a call from my local gun shop, I had ordered a Polish surplus P-64 pistol for delivery to the local shop to do the paperwork for me and it was ready to pick up today. I had to fight 5 PM traffic on wet roads to get to the shop before it closed, then I ran past Hobby Lobby to pick up a couple of things.

I came home and disassembled the pistol to clean the preservative out of it, my pistol was built in 1973 and was used very little so I have no idea how long it was stored. Here's what it looks like, it's tiny:

I need to swap some springs inside it, the trigger pull needs work but it's not a major job to improve it. I have the spring kit, some ammo, and a pocket holster coming. Just in holding it and getting the feel of it, I like the way it points and I think I'm going to like it once I get the trigger tuned up.
