I had to replace my water heater today. Back during the holidays I woke up one morning to find that the hot water had very low pressure all of a sudden. I did some troubleshooting and narrowed it down to the water heater being almost plugged up but I hated to spend the money for a new one (the house is less than 6 years old!) so I wanted to try some other things. I drained and flushed it twice for only a very marginal improvement, and now that I'm back at work after the holidays I hated facing a shower in the morning that felt like a small mammal peeing on my head. I'm serious, it was almost that bad. Then I found out from my neighbors that their water heater had done exactly the same thing recently, so I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt it was the water heater.
I shopped around for the best price, it still cost me $278 for the cheapest 40 gallon gas water heater I could find. Brought it home, and finally got it all hooked up around 8:30 PM. I came inside to warm up while the first tankful of water heated up, then I took a VERY nice long shower while enjoying the best water pressure I've had from the hot water since I've been here. |
