ectopic heartbeats

04/12/2020

Hello anyone who is reading this,

I dont ususally make my diary public, but i thought i would reach out and see if there is anyone struggling like me.

I have had ectopic heartbeats since 2009, i have had many ECG's and an echocardigram and everything has come back hunky dory, they say this is enough to reassure me, but its not, because of my brain.

MY Ectopic beats can start at any point, uusally after exercise, while laying in bed, or even while sitting htere, sometimes i notice i am stressed and anxious and sometimes i dont - but i do believe they happen because either conciously or subconciously i am stressed.

I have been on betablockers, but i didnt like th eidea of being on medication to change my heart, and i thought about going on anti anxiety tablets - but the ones my doctor prescribed said that can mess up the heart rythem....so thats not going to happen (by the way i have health anxiety - which mgith be why these affect me so much) anyway, hypno does help for the most part - but I know these are veyr common in people, i think i heard 80% of the population has ectopic heartbeats, but not all of them have symptoms, and its the symptoms that make this a difficult thing to live with. I have been trying to research what to do when my heart skips to try and control it (my brain that is not my heart)

i know this is not dangerous, however as soon as i skip happens my fight or flight kicks in and anxiety bubbles up inside me.

I thought if anyone else has these, and have found a way to control them it would be good to post it here, and also if anyong else is struggling they can come and see how other people handle it. i have tried reading, taking my mind off it by playing games or watching TV, doing meditation, but i have not found a solid thing that works yet.

If you do have these little buggers know you are not alone, and it is a  hard thing to deal with, and its even harder that people don't understand how frightening it is, it can make you feel really alone.

Hope everyones well and it would be nice to hear from you

keep safe x

I get them sometimes. I also have anxiety, so I take a medicine called citalopram. I also take heart medication and bloodpressure medication.

Just take deep refreshing breaths! In through your nose and out through your mouth.
