Memoirs for Solace

Interlude

08/29/2009

How it struck me
My mind, unprepared, without laying witness
What words from a song
The image of that woman, searching her way
She could not find her direction
That image, overlaid with that haunting song
That pierced my heart and anguished me
Before my mind registered the words

They crushed and drenched me
Soft and sad, wrecked me
And the undertow of the words
Flooded over me.
I only heard the meaning
In retrospect.

How then, once bled by the melody
Did I once again, in accidental meeting,
Be drawn again into that flame.

Which once again, struck me as if anew.
And I bled afresh
And bitterly wept.
