Am I Going To Hell?

02/02/2016

I question religion daily. I believe organized religion, while helpful to many people, is a liability to the world in general. I fear that my doubts will land me in a hell I don't even think I believe in after death, yet I'm pretty sure I'll be reincarnated to my next life or linger as ghost to watch over loved ones. I wonder sometimes if I'm a good person, because it's the right thing to do or because of that hell theory again. I think Jesus is amazing, and I live by His teachings. I think the Goddess is within us all. I believe all gods are one god. I think Buddha and Muhammad are wonderful teachers. Krishna really is an avatar of Vishnu. Life is wonderful and everyone should live harmoniously. And yet, I fear believing that.

This is a huge question for an online diary. I'm just going to go with one sentence you wrote, because it's the one I feel that I know enough about to address: "I think Jesus is amazing, and I live by his teachings."
This is a great start. He also had a lot to say against the organized religion of his day. But look at all of the times he's claimed to have the power of God. What about when he said that He is the only way to God the Father?
My recommendation is to forget about any "religion" for now. Just look deeply into what Jesus truly taught, and what he has done for you, and decide whether you believe what he says about himself, and about life and death.

Check out "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis.

Interesting entry. I have to ask which hell you worry you might be going to? Each religion has their own specific version of hell, and actually those ideas of hell formed over many, many years.
