Bad Name

I regret giving my son his name. Now that we don't live like trash anymore I realize that naming him "K" will only make his life difficult when he's older. I wish someone had stopped me from giving him a white trash name.

I'm sure there are worse names out there.
My friend told me that someone she knows (also, in a trash situation) named one of her kids 'Juice' :/

[Poetic Justice|0 likes] [|reply]

Where I work, I see lots of stupid names.

"Charity Case"
"Princess Brown"

There's always something worse, trust me.

[JellykaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

girl, my co-worker's daughter's friend named her baby Hennesey Alize!!!

[fearless♥love|0 likes] [|reply]

Charity Case?? Princess Brown?! SERIOUSLY???????????

[an empty frame.|0 likes] [|reply]

Yep, I got to meet Princess the other day (normally I just see files lol) and cringed when she said her name. I felt so bad for her!

But then I told her about "charity case" and she decided she liked her name a lot more

[JellykaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

geeze, and I'm sorry if you got four messages... my comment quadruple posted

[JellykaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

I did get four messages. I thought I was popular for once! *cry* lol
Poor kids! lol... Princess Brown... hahahaha aw.

[an empty frame.|0 likes] [|reply]

Sorry!

I can go leave you lots of comments so it seems like you're popular?

[JellykaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

lol no it's ok. Deep down I'll always know the truth ;_;

[an empty frame.|0 likes] [|reply]

omg yes - and there's even worse out there. Do a search for "baby's named a bad, bad thing" and look at some of the HILARIOUS baby names out there.....like Captain Bonar. I kid you not!

[Tango2Romeo|0 likes] [|reply]

Lots of people name their children stupid names. Usually those stupid names are spelled to be 'cutesy' replacing Y's with I's and C's with K's and ending names in 'ee' instead of 'y' or even 'ie.'

At least you didn't give your son a pansy name like Aiden or Hunter, you know, something that will get his ass kicked at school.... most likely by kids named Jimmy, Mark, Michael and William.

[Beautiful LiesStar|0 likes] [|reply]

My mom knows a kid whose name is Snow. Her last name is White. That's right. The kid's name is Snow White.

[Scruddle|0 likes] [|reply]

LOL! For real? Oh my gosh! that poor girl.

[SugarNSpice Surveys|0 likes] [|reply]

For real. And the kid thinks she's going to be a princess. Sure, it could happen, buuuuuuuuuut....I don't know so much it will.

[Scruddle|0 likes] [|reply]

"Make it burn always with the hardest flame!"

Lmfao. xD.♥

[BellatrixStar|0 likes] [|reply]

It can't be that bad. One diarist named their kid "Kyson". Like...a combination of a dyson vacuum and the letter "k". lol So long as it's not Kyson, you should be fine.

[Emily the StrangeStar|0 likes] [|reply]

LOL... It was actually an alteration of the name Tyson, and there is a good, personal reason behind it. It had nothing to do with the vacuum. The majority of people we meet really like his name. But, regardless... I am happy we named him Kyson. I <3 my little guys name. Well, I <3 all my kiddos names. =)

[Blessed♥MamaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

Most people are named for a special reason, but you do have to admit, Kyson is definitely....odd. lol But hey, more power to you.

[Emily the StrangeStar|0 likes] [|reply]

LOL... yes, we get a lot of "that's different.." when we share his name. Up until recently, we had never heard of another Kyson. Well, one of the actors on the show "Heroes" is named James Kyson Lee. But other than that, he was the only one. And then a girl I met a few years ago had a baby in March and named him Kyson. Ironic enough, when she met me and the kids (Ky was a newb.) she told me how much she loved his name. I'd say so.. being as she named her son that even 4 years later... lol.

[Blessed♥MamaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

I've never heard of the name Kyson but I quite like it. It doesn't remind me of Dyson and I hate the name Tyson (and Tyler and Taylor and shit like that). Kyson is cool.

[an empty frame.|0 likes] [|reply]

true but its a "Kyson-Lee" which translated from his native Korean is Child of the Spirit of Lee.... its one thing when a name is from another country/toungue and its just not something we are used to in the west and something someone pulls out of the air.

However I see nothing wrong with the name "kyson"

[Meghans FollieStar|0 likes] [|reply]

If it makes you feel any better, if I ever have a daughter I'm going to give her a new age porn star name "Amethyst Belladonna".

[Ice Vampire|0 likes] [|reply]

If I could "love" this comment, I so would!

[Doris &heartsStar|0 likes] [|reply]

LOL Thanks. Honestly, porn star comment aside, I think it's a really pretty name and thats why I like it. Of course I grew up Baptist and I know that my family would be VERY upset if I ever had a kid and named her Amethyst Belladonna and they realized how much of it could be seen as a pagan name. *shrug* oh well. Anywho! Thanks.

[Ice Vampire|0 likes] [|reply]

"Make it burn always with the hardest flame!"

Same! (:♥

[BellatrixStar|0 likes] [|reply]

It can always be changed. Let him make that decision when he olders and then have it legally changed. Good luck!

[Mommy_Bunny|0 likes] [|reply]

When I start having children, I plan on naming them after Greek gods, and injecting them with hormones and steroids, such that they destroy their peers in all physical contests.

[kein mitleidStar|0 likes] [|reply]

Yes. So much fucking yes, oh my god.

[Betch.|0 likes] [|reply]

I am SECONDING that yes. This. So hard.

[Doing DallasStar|0 likes] [|reply]

Here, here, it's ok, it really is! Here in bloop we have all sorts of Londyns and Scarletts! At least you have a son, and his name will never be mistaken for a stripper's!

[Madeline RainStar|0 likes] [|reply]

There is more than one Londyn on Bloop!?! Even with the incorrect spelling??

[Blessed♥MamaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

"Make it burn always with the hardest flame!"

Ah fuckit, I'd call my children Esmeralda or Lucius *cackles*
I'd be Bellatrix. My husband would be Scabior.
Yep; we'd be one fucked up family *dances*♥

[BellatrixStar|0 likes] [|reply]

It could be worse. It could be Placentia or La-a (apparently pronounced Ladasha)

[Villy|0 likes] [|reply]

I try not to judge, as I've been insulted for the names I've given my own children (hence the Kyson and Londyn references from comments in this very entry, LOL) but those are just terrible. I don't even know which one I find worse.....

[Blessed♥MamaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

The worst name I've ever heard though?
Shithead.
It's pronounced Shi-Thade.
No I'm not kidding you. A friend is a substitute teacher and ran into this one. The kid is in elementary school and already choosing to go by his middle name.

[Momma 'n' McNizzlettStar|0 likes] [|reply]

It's Shi'Thead. (with the apostrophe, I have a friend named that lol - he goes by his middle name as well!)

I suppose that child pronounces it differently, the person I know with the name pronounces it Shi-theed.

[JellykaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

FUCKIN' LOL.

[Betch.|0 likes] [|reply]

I could never imagine naming my child a letter.

[Lady Burt♥|0 likes] [|reply]

I hate it when parents fail to spell their children's names correctly, a girl I was used to work with was called Sorrelle, but her parents spelt is Sorrel as in the herb. I have noticed a recent trend for naming children after a place e.g. Devon but purposely spelling it wrong, again, it doesn't just make the parent look uneducated, but it shows that the child came from an uneducated family as well which isn't very nice.

I know someone else (my cousins partner) all of her daughters names begin with H, Harley, Hannah, Holly and Honey then they all have Jane as their second name, weird.

Spelling your child's name incorrectly is not unique, it is idiotic!

It is quite interesting how you can determine the type of family a child comes from due to their name. It is funny when people give their child a name that reflects something they want that child to express when they are older, such as Charity, Honour, I saw someone a while back on a forum who had two daughters, Grace and Dignity!

[TransitStar|0 likes] [|reply]

"It is quite interesting how you can determine the type of family a child comes from due to their name."

Except you can't. That is completely ludicrous to even assume you know the type of family a child comes from because of the way their parents spelled their name.

A child who has an alternately spelled/misspelled name comes from an uneducated family? Huge, HUGE blanket statement.

My daughters kindergarten teacher, for example, named her youngest daughter Camryn. This lady has been teaching kindergarten for 30 years. She is very, very far from uneducated.

Some people alternate spellings for a specific reason, wether it be symbolic or traditional, it has nothing to do with their level of education. Some people do misspell names due to ignorance. For example, my husbands name is spelled Micheal, because his mother simply didn't know she was spelling it wrong... she WAS ignorant to the correct spelling, and no one told her otherwise.

Close minded people will always try to make something out of nothing. I never once alternated the spelling of my childrens names to be "unique," I did so for a symbolic reason important to our family, and for personal preference. I did it knowing some people would find it idiotic, and that is fine. But again, it says nothing about how educated I am, what so ever.

[Blessed♥MamaStar|0 likes] [|reply]

Actually, read Freakonomics. We'll talk after that.

[Madeline RainStar|0 likes] [|reply]

I agree. People often question the spelling we chose for our daughter.. "Cheyanne" - but it is in fact the org spelling from where we took her name.. Cheyenne is an american spelling of it.
So i agree you cannot assume just by looking at a kids name what the family is like.

[Meghans FollieStar|0 likes] [|reply]

Haha! How stupid. I just graduated from college but since my son's name is devAn it makes me look uneducated?

[HomefulloToddlerz+1|0 likes] [|reply]

Yes. People judge by appearances. Just like if you wear worn-out clothes with holes in them, people will judge you as poor, even if you have millions in the bank.

[random|0 likes] [|reply]

And it had nothing to do with being unique it had to do with the fact that we couldn't agree on whether to spell it devon or devin

[HomefulloToddlerz+1|0 likes] [|reply]

I happen to love my name. Almost all of my jobs have required a name tag and I get complimented on it all the time because it's different.

I think it's stupid for people to go overboard trying to be unique. But I think it is equally as stupid to judge everyone that has their name spelled a little differently.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I'm proud to be Viktorya. I'd rather be looked at as stupid for my name than to be seen as closed-minded and judgmental, which is what you get when you make blanket statements like that.

And I know I'm late to be commenting, but I rarely come to Bloop.

[Villy|0 likes] [|reply]

Text abbreviations are pretty trashy. But you could change it by deed poll to "OK". Give him more of a chance in life.

[random|0 likes] [|reply]

The child's name isn't "K" names are removed from secrets. It's just the first letter of the name.

[BloopSecretsStar|0 likes] [|reply]

You mean white trash aren't naming their kids letters nowadays? But hey, "OK" might still be an improvement.

[random|0 likes] [|reply]

I met a lady who had twin boys. One boy was named Peanut. The other was named Butter. Peanut and Butter. *Sigh* I am sure your son's name can't be that bad.

[Love like crazy!|0 likes] [|reply]

I know a girl who wants to someday name a daughter of her's Lydia. Not because it's a pretty name. But because it sounds like chlamydia. She thinks it's a pretty word.
K isn't such a bad name.
You can always change it. Or change the spelling to make it "cool"
In PA where I am it only cost about $35.
And if he's old enough to really decide anything maybe he can help pick it. A friend of my aunt's did that with her adopted child. He chose to be named after his dad. It was really sweet.

[Momma 'n' McNizzlettStar|0 likes] [|reply]

A girl a work with recently was telling us about an old friend she had whose name was Anita Cox. (Said quickly sounds like "Ineedacocks") I guess she was from England or something.

[A♥Babe|0 likes] [|reply]

And people wonder why, if I have kids, I'll use names from other members of my family.

If I ever have a girl, she will be named Katherine Helena - Katherine from my great-grandmother, Helena from my hubby's great-grandmother.

If I have a boy, it'll be Frederick Joseph Oliver - Frederick from my dad and his father, and Joseph from my hubby and his granddad. Oliver wou be from my mother's father.

No weird names at all. Just the old-school, never-go-out-of-style names.

Can't you change the name?

[A.Classic.Disaster|0 likes] [|reply]

I will never forget this woman who came in my work with a little girl named Nim.

[A.Classic.Disaster|0 likes] [|reply]

If my son was a girl, his name was going to be Bianca Fae. His last name means "White Mountain" and Bianca Fae translates to "White Fairy".

White Fairy, White Mountain

And I was going to get a fairy and mountain scene tattooed on me with her name. Yeah. lol

I'm SO glad he's a boy That, and my ex friend named her daughter that after hearing the name at my baby shower. Bitch.
