LTTA-Spin The Bottle

The summer after Dalila turned twelve her parents let her have a sleep over with her closest friends. There was D, Nicole, Sarah, Bryce, Tommy, and Gavin. Tommy and Gavin were there mostly so that Bryce wasn’t the only boy there and didn’t feel out of place. Dalila’s parents had been strict on allowing the boys staying over. They were to sleep in the living room and the girls in Dalila’s room. Her parents would check on them every ten to fifteen minutes, which Sarah labeled as lame.

“Who wants to play spin the bottle?” Sarah asked. Tommy and Gavin nodded right away.

“I don’t want to get into trouble guys.” Dalila pleaded.

“She’s just chicken” Nicole chipped in.

“Come on D.” Sarah sighed. Dalila knew Sarah had a crush on Bryce and for some reason it irked her.

“Fine” she agreed with a huff.

They all sat in a circle while Sarah pulled out a pop bottle from her bad. She obviously has this planned. Dalila thought nervously. She didn’t know what she saw in people like Sarah and Nicole but they were there as friends and so that’s what they were.

“Since it’s your house, you go first!”

“Oh…K.” Dalila reach over and spun, hoping it would spontaneously combust before landing on anyone. It started to slow and then landed between Bryce and Tommy. She didn’t know what to do so she looked over at Sarah and Nicole.

“It’s only fair that you kiss them both!” Sarah said coolly. Dalila leaned over to Bryce first and planted a kiss on his cheek, feeling a little relieved.

“No, it has to be on the lips. We’re not kids anymore Dalila.” Nicole said.

She sighed and leaned over again. Bryce leaned into her and their lips touched. Something happened in that split second, time stood still and there was a spark. Dalila leaned back and touched her fingers to her lips. Before she could think straight Tommy had his lips on hers. Odd, she thought, no where near the same feelings. Just as Sarah was going to spin they heard Dalila’s parents and threw the bottle across the room while Sarah and Nicole burst into a giggle fit.

A couple days later Bryce came over to get Dalila to head to the park for a picnic with his parents. No one had really talked about the game anymore that night but Sarah tried to get Bryce to play “Seven seconds in Heaven”. He told her no for two reasons. One he was there to hang out with everyone, not just Sarah and two, he didn’t know what it was and didn’t want to admit it to her.

“So was that your first kiss?” Bryce asked jokingly.

“Yeah” she blushed.

“Only seems fit since I asked you to marry me when we were six” he nudged her shoulder as they walked. Dalila laughed.

“Apparently my no didn’t get through.”

“Guess not” he said laughing. He wanted to tell her it was his first kiss too but something held him back.
