The Big Day

03/25/2010

The Big Day
Well it's 9:00 pm on Wednesday which means in just a few hours it will time to get Isabel ready to go have her surgery...right now I've hit the calm before the storm, meaning I'm so terrified that I've gone completely numb and don't feel any fear but I know that as soon as they go to take her from my arms I'm going to FREAK! They called us this morning to inform us that they wanted us to come in early to discuss the possibility of using a new "experimental" technique on her that has supposedly been used in Europe for years and America is just now adopting...I have news for them though, my daughter is NOT a guinea pig and will not be treated like one! I want them to use something that they are completely familiar with, not something that they are just now learning how to do you know? How could they even think of asking parents something like that knowing that it doubles the risks!? OH don't get me wrong they would never TELL me that it doubles the risks but I know that it does, I'm not a complete idiot, if you've never used a technique before there is twice the room for error than with something you do every day of your life DUH!!

Anyway we have to be at the Egleston Children's Hospital by 6:30 am which is an hour or so drive so we have to leave the house by 15 to 5 and since our car is broken down my grandparents are taking us. They drive a jeep liberty so they'll be in the front and John, me and Isabel are going to be squished together in the back seat all the way there. Once we get there they are going to go over the options we have, apparently there are three different procedures they can use to fix her PDA and they want us to make the decision with the doctor on which we should use! After that they will take her in for the surgery which will supposedly take about two hours to complete but I'm betting it'll probably take much longer...once she's out of surgery they will keep her in a recovery room for three hours to monitor her to make sure all her vital signs stay level and to bring her out of anesthesia and give her fluids etc..after the three hours if all goes well they will then send her home. Of course there will be follow up visits with the cardiologist to make sure that her heart heals properly etc. but we will be able to breath easier and so will she..literally.

Anywho I have a lot of stuff to get done before I can lay down for the night and we have to get up early early in the morning so I'm outtie! Ciao and Blessed Be!

Oh my goodness, good luck to you and your family. I hope that everything goes smoothly. I wouldn't let them do that experiment either. Hells no.
