Bored

Today it is so cold and this morning it was snowing. Typical Scottish weather. Well, I suppose it is February and to be expected. I would just love to live in sunshine all year round. So what’s been happening the past week or so?

Well our weekend was good. We went to the pictures on Friday night to see ‘Spotlight’. This was really good and shocking because it is based on a true story. To think that the world is filled with priests who abuse children. These are people who are supposed to be preaching peace, goodwill to all men etc and they are nothing but scum and wouldn’t know Jesus/God if he turned up at their door!! Aaarrgh. Anywho, enough about them.

On Saturday we went to Edinburgh (my favourite Scottish town). For those who don’t know, there is a part of Edinburgh called the Royal Mile and it is soo lovely and steeped in history. It is also where the castle is. The snow was on and it was freezing cold but we decided to go on one of the free walking tours. They have quite a few of them throughout the day. Now, I know who all the famous Scots are, ie Rabbie Burns, William Wallace, Kings, Queens etc but I am ashamed to admit I don’t know much about them. So this was a great way to learn. I should have said it is a walking history tour. The tour guide was Australian but emigrated here a few years ago and now does these tours free of charge. It was very interesting and I learned loads and loads. We visited Greyfriars Cemetery and learned all about the people in there. Did you know that J K Rowland who wrote the Harry Potter books/films named some of her characters from that cemetery? She was sitting in a café overlooking the cemetery (The Elephant Café) and then she went in and stole some names from gravestones!! I love history and we are going to go on more of those tours.

Sunday was spent doing washings, housework etc and catching up with loads of soaps. I am in work just now and have no work whatsoever. I work for a large law firm in various departments. I am in Corporate Defence for three months and there is no work. Yesterday I sat and read a million (felt like it) diaries on Bloop. So it looks like today I am going to be doing the same. Each department in here cannot get access to another department’s work so I can’t help other secretaries out and vice versa. Everything in here is top secret even between workers. Here’s hoping some work comes in later.

Does anyone remember how on OD we could do a search for people like, for instance, I used to love reading all male diaries. Females were good too but too many kids, babies, bipolar, depression ones so the male ones were much more fun. I also liked reading the UK ones and then people from countries I had visited. Nothing against other countries and I love those too. So I wondered, is there a way on Bloop to search for just males, or search by country?? 9:45am and I am bored beyond belief. So time to go get another cup of tea and start reading diaries. Some job eh? Going to our quiz night tonight, we always win free drinks and sometimes money. Hope you all have a more productive day than me.

Wish the snow had made it down here

You ever done the literary pub tour in Edinburgh? Good fun. I went with my ex a few years back

Hi William, friends of ours do the Literary Pub Tour twice a year. We were booked up to go with them once and I was so looking forward to it. Then it got cancelled. There is another one coming up soon and so I think I might do that. It does sound good. Also, I fancy the ghost ones too.

I'm new here, but haven't found a way to search for particular groups like OD had. I was there for over a decade.
Your job sounds awesome
We're getting a foot of snow today... blizzard!
