Hello Bloopers.

Following on from the previous entry, life time subscriptions are now available for BloopXtra.

* A life time subscription costs $150.00 and never expires.
* The subscription is non-refundable.
* You can purchase these subscriptions via PayPal or Google Checkout, using the Xtra subscription page.
* A subscription covers ONE diary only.
* These subscriptions are transferrable. So if you leave or create a new diary, you can transfer the subscription or donate it to a friend.

That's all for now!

I really like this! I think when I'm up for renewal I'm going to do this! What happens if bloop goes down??

@queenbutterfly:

The reason I'm doing this is to prevent Bloop going down. The server we're on right now has been nothing but reliable, and the support team is excellent. If I have a query, I receive a reply within 15 minutes. I also live half hour from them! I'm extremely happy with this service.

With more money, I can cut a better deal on the server.

Right now we're hosted on a virtual server, and as part of the service our server is backed up automatically every night! If the server goes down, it can be brought back up within minutes. If we suffer database corruption, we'll have the previous day's data available to us because of the way the servers are set up. I don't even have to think about backups.

Basically, Bloop isn't going to go down again. With that said, the subscription isn't refundable.

Which I had the money for this, heck I don't even have the money for a 1 month subscription

Wow, from reading the comments I even really like this!! That sounds awesome. That was my own concern, having bloop crash again. Hopefully I can scrounge up the money in a few months and get that going!!

[color my world.|0 likes] [|reply]

Would not spend money like that on a diary online. lol what if you get sick of it like 3 months down the road. what a waste of money. Not enough money in the world to be wasting it on this stuff. I got bills. SORRY but good luck on that Steve.

^^wow was that rude comment neccessary? no i don't think so. really if you have nothing nice to say, or nothing positive then what's the use of even spouting nonsense?

it's worth it to some people like me. i think this is a fantastic idea! i'm going to start saving so i can do that.

@alwaysnforever:

While I see your point, it isn't applicable in all cases. Some people actually have an online diary that they intend to keep forever, and this kind of subscription will appeal to them.

[SteveStar|0 likes] [|reply]

it's a bit costly but you are right for those who do intend to keep it forever. i think it's a wonderful idea ♥.Audrey.Dean.♥

[Jellybean♥|0 likes] [|reply]

anddddd the new server stuff won me over. i like that very much!!!! ♥.Audrey.Dean.♥

[Jellybean♥|0 likes] [|reply]

That was kinda rude A lot of people really love Bloop (like me) and have made some real true friends here. So for some people it would be worth it. I think it's a good idea and I'm gonna save up some money so I can get it. Thanks Steve.

well alwaysnforever, considering a great majority of bloopers have been here 5 + years they probably aren't planning on going anywhere any time soon and would like to invest their money in a life time subscription.

[& skull.Star|0 likes] [|reply]

if people can really know what they are going to do in their life in 10 years, 20 years, even 30 years... if they can know for sure they are still going to want to have bloop or believe that bloop will actually last that long (you honestly cannot say how the world is going to progress) then by all means, people, buy the lifetime subscription. as i commented in the previous entry, there should be options for like 2 and 3 years as well. to me personally that seems more realistic. i'm almost 24... but i can't positivly say i'm going to be keeping an online diary when i'm 50. the lifetime subscription... not for me. but i'm glad you have some supporters that will help keep bloop going at least for the near future.

Hi, I just thought maybe you should read this article about the downsides to lifetime subscriptions, I know that bloop isn't a "publication" but I could still see how this article applies to the financial future of bloop:

Steve, here's thing thing i was talking about, it's the actual site of the one the majority of other sites use.

I did a similar thing with DIGG. But yeah, I'll have to consider allowing more options.... definitely in V3.

GOOD IDEA, YO. YOU COULD MAKE THE LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION ONLY AVAILABLE TO BUY ON ONE DAY A YEAR OR SOMETHING - THAT'S WHAT LJ DO. THEN LOTS OF PEOPLE RUSH TO BUY IT.

HAHA - ALWAYSNFOREVER HAS ONLY HAD HER BLOOP FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. OF COURSE SHE DOESN'T WANT LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION - WHY WOULD SHE? IT'S FOR PEOPLE WHO'VE BEEN HERE A WHILE, WHO KNOW THEY LIKE IT, AND WHO'D LIKE TO STAY. PLENTY OF BLOOPERS IN THAT CATEGORY, YO. HAHA - THAT'S LIKE SOMEONE WHO'S DATED THEIR BOIF FOR TWO DAYS SAYING THEY CAN'T POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD MARRY THEIR BOIF, BECAUSE, LIKE, WHAT IF THEY ARE SICK OF THEIR BOIF IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IT FAILS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT PLENTY OF PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY BEEN WITH THEIR BOIF FOR A LOT LONGER THAN A COUPLE OF MONTHS, AND HAVE REALISED THEY ARE NOT GETTING SICK OF HIM ANY TIME SOON!

what happens when your diary gets deleted for not logging on for a long time? do you get a refund or is your money lost forever?

[MissStar|0 likes] [|reply]

I think i am rather torn between both sides.

I think im mostly swaying with the idea that i agree with the idea of wondering where youre going to be 10-20-30 years from now. The unpredictability of life is so up and down, last year i was just moving into my own apartment, now im struggling to keep my bills paid and a roof over my head.. I think those who could take a lifer could do it, however, i agree in the 1 year, 2 year 3 year option. OD has their lifetime option but they also have other payment options too.

maybe 29.99 for a year 49.99 for two years, and 69.99 for three years and 150 for a life time subs. obviously there has to be some little incentive to taking the longer choice, thus why there is a 10 dollar difference in price for going with two years instead of buying 1 year twice so to speak.. of course prices would your choice, i just think that 150 dollars is a lot of money to people.. to me 150 bucks is 3 bills paid, or groceries.. but sometimes i DO have 30 bucks, or sometimes i work an extra shift and that 50 bucks is there for me to spend on something i love. you see?

You'd only have to be with bloop for a little over 8 years to get your money's worth. That time goes by so quickly sheesh, I've had mine for a little over 4 years now and I don't know where the time has gone.

I guess it depends on whether people have $150 cash right now or if they would rather pay out the $18 per year (which is a little easier to find). Personally I don't have bloopxtra and don't have a need for it with the way I use my diary on strict friends only but for those who wish to keep their diary and use it on members for 8+ years and have the money hanging around it's a great deal especially if it improves bloop and server stuffs :0)

[JailNurse|0 likes] [|reply]

Awesome idea. $150.00 is quite a bit of cash though.

[love always.Star|0 likes] [|reply]

What happens if, in three years, you decide you don't want bloop anymore and the site is closed?

How will subscribers know what their money is going towards?

[Emily the StrangeStar|0 likes] [|reply]

I'd never not want Bloop! You're crazy! lol.

The money goes strictly towards a better deal for Bloop, and its financial future.

Take my word for it or don't!

[SteveStar|0 likes] [|reply]

are you going to be mailing a receipt to everyone so they know that youre ACTUALLY using the money for BLOOP?

I just think its crazy to spend 150 on a diary site. lol. but whatever.

[alwaysnforever|0 likes] [|reply]

Active or inactive, I've been on Bloop for a loooong time now, idk exact time, but like 6yrs or so?

Anyway, having said that, I agree that $150 is a LOT of money to drop, even for a beloved site like Bloop. Steve, you can say you'll keep Bloop forever all you want, but most of us know better. The dot com industry is so unstable at times and things change. Life changes. Despite what you may "promise", there are no guarantees in life and your "lifetime subscription" and it is my opinion that $150 for such a thing is a waste of money.

I love Bloop and respect what you're doing here Steve, you have to know that, but just thought I'd share my opinion as well.

Idk, I'm sure I'll get bashed or whatever, but just thought someone who shares this opinion and has actually been around awhile should say something.

I do like the idea of other length of time options..like maybe 1 year, then 5 and 10yr? That would be more reasonable I think..I'd buy into something like that.

Anyway, for those willing to drop that much cash at once, feel free, but I think more options should be available.

Thanks for reading, lol

How on Earth did you end up on this page? lol.

A 10 yr subscription x $18 would be $180. $150 is therefore cheaper. Why would you or anyone else buy a 10 yr subscription over a life time subscription?

I'm a little lost in the logic here!

[SteveStar|0 likes] [|reply]

Got the message in my Bloop inbox, which I check occasionally, and decided to reply.

And to your second sentence, touche. I think I was tired when I commented. To be my own devil's advocate, I suppose dropping $18 is a risk b/c we don't know if this site will be here in a year's time, but we still do it with no worries, so for those who want to pay more and never have their subscription expire should choose that option.

Yeah I'm a confused panda. Sue me.
