650 hello chicago 23

HELLO WINDY CITY!

Oh… I should back up.

My sister plays professional woman’s football for the Boston Militia. Her team has dominated over the last 6 years, winning 3 championships, making the final another time and the last two years, losing to the Chicago Force, for a spot in the title game. Over this time, the Militia only lost 5 games in all

On July 5th was The Boston Militia’s first playoff game and we were going up against our rival, the DC Divas. We play them 2 times a year not including the playoffs. Two years ago there was a brall, where police had to be called in and we (Boston) sent a woman to the hospital with a broken leg. And it was a bad-painful break.

I left early July 5th because 4th of July celebration was postphoned to the 5th because of the rain we got.
I had people updating me via texting my sis in law. We ended up crushing them in a high scoring game, 72-56. and it was on to the eastern final verses Chicago at home. A few things were against us though. They were the team who beat us the last two years and with the championship game in their home of Chicago, they wanted to play in that game like it was the last game they would ever play.

Saturday, July 19th. Eastern final championship game.
The defending champion Chicago Force travel to Boston (Somerville) to take on the Boston Militia for a spot in the championship game.
Both teams undefeated.
Both teams win by an average over 20 points a game.

It was a battle to start the game. At the end of the first quarter the score was 7-0 Boston.

Boston put the most points on Chicago in Chicago’s history.

We also sent another player to the hospital. This game it was a concussion. They had to open up the endzone’s gate to let the ambulance on to the field. It was a 30 minute delay.

As the clock was ticking down, my Dad and I walked to where they would be coming off the field. I was so emotional. I was going back to Chicago thanks to my sister and the Boston Militia. I gave my sister a huge hug. She said “I guess you can go get White Sox tickets.” I just smiled and nodded.

I have a few “LIFE TIME GOALS” as most people know. One of them is to visit every MLB baseball stadium. Most of the time they happen by chance. This one is no different. I’m going to go to US Celular Field, stadium #23 for me.

I sorta made deal with my dad…He would take care of the hotel and car and I would take care of the flights and baseball tickets.

Knowing that my dad hates flying, I made sure to get direct flight and I figured he’d appreciate flying JetBlue because they have TV’s at every seat. Hopefully he can get lost in a show or 4.
It was expensive but nothing I could do.

When it came to the baseball game, I figure let’s just go all out. I looked up and then called the disability line at the stadium. The woman said that they had a few options for visual empred seating. The first was “behind the screen” … She said it was $70 a ticket. ($70? for seats right behind homeplate? At fenway Park, those same seats would $130 a seat) ok.
I will be sitting right behind home plate

So if anyone has the ability to watch Chicago white sox game Friday night… you’ll see me 

We have extended family who we only met once, who live in Chicago. They are pretty wealthy.
They own shopping centers. Not stores, entire shopping centers.

My dad called them up to let them know we’ll be in town. Hoping we could meet up with them for dinner and check out the shopping center. Unfortunately, of all weekends to be there, they would be in Toronto. They felt so bad, they insisted on putting us up in a hotel. “You want to stay down town” “There is place called the Standard Club.” She was able to get us a reservation. My dad looked up the place and it’s a private hotel. My dad looked at the website and there is no prices on the website. They have 4 restaurants. A full size basketball court, indoor track, gym, indoor heated pool, baby sitting services and many many more things including confrense rooms. All the restaurants have dress codes. No sneakers, shorts, jeans, or T-stank tops.

She also knows that I am a huge sports fan. She’s good friends with the VP of theChicago Cubs. After checking to find out there is no game while I’m there, “but we’ll get you a tour of Wriggley field.” There is no group tour scheduled for that weekend but the VP set up a private-personal tour. WOW! This is so cool.

She suggested that we don’t rent a car. You can either walk or take a train to everywhere you want to go to and if not, there is always a cab.
*and I just learned why she suggested that…parking is $35 a day plus the $50 a day to rent a car. Plus gas…

My sister paid for our tickets for the football game. She got a discount. I tried to give her money but she told me not to worry about it.

So let’s review…I paid for the flights and the baseball tickets. My sister paid for the football tickets. My Dad said he’ll pay for the hotel and car.

One other thing I think would be cool for my dad and I to do is eat at the original UNOS. So we’ll do that Thursday night.

My dad is a huge fire buff. There is a museum in Chicago called thd …the Chicago fire museum.
I thought he would be excited to go there and get a tour and learn about the great fire of Chicago.

I looked it up. Emailed the website. After many days of trying to figure out a date-time for my dad and I, my dad was happy that I thought to do something for him but as time passed, he didn’t want to go nd gve me every reason why we shouldn’t. Stupid me kept persuing it and I eventually just told the guy thanks but the timing wont work.
Hey, I tried to do something for him. I know he doesn’t care for sports and hates flying but he’s going for me.
Either way, I know I will enjoy this weekend.

HELLO STADIUM #23!
GO BOSTON MILITIA!
GO CRAZY!

Woo hoooo glad you get to cross another one off of your list!! You've already been to mine I think so going to a game in Cleveland wouldn't cross anything off a list. Booo. Oh well it'd still be fun. I wanted to go to an Indians game this summer but it hasn't worked so far. Boooo. Oh well.
