648 people buying houses Devin 2 Chi Phx va

Hi all, I apologize for being a bad blooper. I am still in the process of writing about my fourth of July and will post that at some point but I didn’t want to go too far without writing about what’s going on in my life and the people around me.

It is strange to me, how parallel my best friend John and my friend Dominique’s lives are mirrored.

Both have very young kids, divorced, had to move back with their parent’s and now…they are both in the process of buying homes on their own.

John, who grew up in a development right behind my house till his Mother moved them when he was 10 all the way to a town … 14 miles away. When he got married, he was looking in my town for a house but my town wasn’t good enough for his wife. So now that he is single, he was looking for a house around my town, within a 15 minute radius.

He called me up two weeks ago and said it only took 20 years but I’m moving back to Saugus. I was excited. Now, Saugus is 11.8 SM. He told me the street –house and I did a google search from my house to his… it’s 0.6 miles away. Yup, so my best friend is buying a house one right and two lefts away.

Last week I went out for dinner with John and his kids. He said to them that he has a very very serious question to ask. How would you like to live near Uncle Dolphin (my nickname). You’d think it was Christmas and they both opened a toy they’ve been asking for. They were cheering and his little girl Grace who was sitting next to me, through herself on me and I had a huge smile. I was so happy at their reaction.

There was a few bumps in buying the house but he was able to overcome them.
The outlets were all 2 prongs and in MA now, they need to all be 3. So he would need an electrician come in and switch all that over. There was also a tiny crack in one of the pipes. He wanted that replaced. He got an estament and asked the sellers for that money back in closing and they agreed.

It’s Friday now, well after midnight, so John with be signing off today.

An “it’s a small world” connection…the house he is buying, is from the parent’s of a childhood friend of my sister’s. As a kid, my sister had gone over there a few times.

Dominique is buying a brand new house in a new development. It’s so new that, she’s watching as they build the house.

We were originally talking about me coming next May. It was then pushed up to me visiting in November, for her birthday. Well, it’s moved up again.

She wants me to come in September, to help her unpack-move things and keep her company as she paints the rooms. In return, she’ll take me to an Arizona Diamondback game. So not only do I get to meet my first on line friend ever, I also get to capture another stadium. I’m very excited. She has updated me step by step about eh house process. She has even forwarded me emails from her agent and from the bank. She also gives me the physical update of the house and how it’s coming along.
So that’s not set in stone yet but 99% that I’m going to do it.

I’m also going to Virginia in October. A different on line blind friend invited me to go with her to a conference for blind workers. She was told she could invite a guest and she asked me if I would go with her. I’m not crazy about attending the workshops and banquet but it will be nice to meet this lady. It’s even nicer that my hotel-flight will be paid for by her work.
So that will be early October.

Sunday July 20th

My Nephew Devin turned two years old.

My twin had an immediate family party. We had about 20 people. He got a bunch of pizzas. 3 too many. My mom also had a antipasto and other people made-brought things.

Devin has a lot of food allergies so he couldn’t have a normal cake. Justin found a bakery that specializes in allergy. He was able to buy a chocolate cake for him and a normal cake for everyone else. Again, people made desserts too.

Just like most babies, as soon as he saw the candles lit, he went hysterical. We all sang happy birthday through his crying and I’m not sure who blew out the candles.

Eventually we migrated to the playroom where he opened up the gifts. I was in the TV room watching my Red Sox until my gift was next.

OH, Justin and Lindsay gave him their gift earlier that day. Justin explained to me that a lot of 2 year old toys are about colors and numbers and letters but he knows all that already so he wanted to get something a little more advance. He got him a really cool tool set with plastic boards that have holes in them and you can hammer nails into them and they will hold together or the wrench with nuts and bolts. And you can put the plastic boards together that way too. It has a tool box and I don’t know what else but by the time I got there, he knew what each tool was and what it did and how to use them.

A few months ago he got a toy kitchen set. Justin is always out grilling so when I saw there was a toy grill. I had to buy it for him.

I had my dad assembled it at my house so when he got it, it wouldn’t be just a box. He loved it…and so didn’t everyone else. It was the gift of the party. He was grilling the burgers and hotdogs and fire truck…ok, so that didn’t belong but still. It was a cool gift and he liked it.

I think that’s all for now

I can't wait til we can someday own a house. I hate renting. I hate sharing yards. This place is better than our old one but our neighbors turn our yard into a mechanic's workshop and it sometimes looks like a used car lot. Plus their kids leave toys all over thd yard so if it's not picked up it could ruin our lawn mower. And their one daughter screams all day long when she doesn't get her way. Ugh. But they are nice people just have annoying habits. lol I know the house buying process definitely sucks. We have gotten a taste of it. Sooo complicated sometimes. I'm glad he's moving close to you though! And I'm excited for you for your potential trip!
