when father bought the farm,

we're living in the past. why preserve a dying craft? i am exisiting in a very weird way right now.

Congratulations on becoming City-fied!

Actually, there are several valid reasons to preserve the "dying craft" of farming. I personally like the whole "do it to keep the corporations from owning everything", but there are other reasons.

While I've been a city-boy most of my life, my father and his family come from the Iowa farming tradition. There's some good there.

Of course, I'd never want to be a farmer...but, that's just me.
