.. and so I write.
by wayward spirit

previous entry: Wow! What a wonderful welcome!

next entry: Oh wooooe is me! Not really..

Late night insomnia..

10/26/2010

Apparently, though I have an 8:30am class today, I don't feel like going to bed. Been mildly productive, having figured out my topic for my paper in Social Problems (as well as took the quiz in that class already) and I wrote a paper for Developmental Psychopathology.

Don't know what it is about today (or is it yesterday now? I always feel like it's still today until I go to bed.. and since I'm still awake.. end of a looong aside now) but I was just really out of sorts. Not sad per se.. just devoid of emotion. Happens sometimes. Especially during Michigan autumns.. even though I love them, the changing seasons affects my mood a bit sometimes. Forgot about that, having not really dealt with changing seasons much in the past few years.

Hmm.. Maybe that explains my meltdown the night I made it to my parents after Uhaulin' from Florida. Heh. It's kinda funny actually.. burst into tears and asked, "Why the hell did I move up here??" There WAS snow on the ground and it was FREEZING.

*coughs* So yeah, kinda embarrassing to admit I guess. I moved from perfect Florida winter temps to coooooooold ass Michigan. Forgot how bitter that cold could be. Brr. I mean, hell.. the last Thanksgiving I had in Michigan there was a little snow on the ground.. but nothing severe. I was excited then!

Hell, when I visited my friend Jess in Ohio, I got freaked by all the large piles of snow everywhere. Not used to dealing with that, and I'm sure I'm going to love it when it happens this year. -_-;;

Moving right along..

A lot of work I need to do for classes this week. And I'm just hoping I can keep on top of it.

Work, by the way, has been pretty decent. Nice to work with a lot of cool guys.. not sure if I mentioned that in my last entry or not. Still sad that I'm older than most of them.. *sighs* They LAUGHED when I said I played the original NES when it first came out. I pleaded.. "That's not supposed to be funny!!" *smirks* I can't believe I feel old. Course.. it's not like anyone I talk to on campus even has seen Short Circuit. *sighs* I get funny looks when I bring up 80s movies actually.

It's like the Twilight Zone.

Except not scary. Well.. guess the Twilight Zone wasn't scary either.. but anyway.

What else.. Java Monster is pretty damn awesome. Mean Bean. Yup. Forgot how much I love that stuff. Should try the Chai.. maybe.

Considering checking out the Grand Rapids Griffins with Jules when she comes up to visit. They're the AHL team that the Red Wings call up players from when there are roster injuries and such. Never been to an AHL game.. wanted to go see the Detroit Vipers back when there was an IHL team.. but that ended awhile back. Wow this is random.

Oh oh oh.. forgot to mention it.. but I had a stupid encounter the other day. So get this.. I go to Arby's. I get to the window and she asks,

"Do you want any Arby's or Horsey sauce?"
"No.. but do you have any mayo?"
"Mayo?"
"Yes, mayo."
"You mean mayonnaise?"
"Uhh.. yeah."
"Yeah we have some. Do you want mayonnaise?"

At which point I really wanted to say..

"No.. I was just checking to make sure you guys are fully stocked."

But instead, I said,

"Yes."

Now.. I'm not one to pick.. but jeezus.. it should have been "do you have mayo?" "Sure, here you go!" and not freaking 20 questions! I don't know, it was like an endurance test I needed to pass in order to get the coveted egg white condiment. *rolls eyes* Should I be chased by a boulder too? Choose the right cup? Use a black light on the Mona Lisa for the clues as to how to obtain mayo?

Well anyway, I know that was probably expounded upon too severely, but you get my point. It was hilarious. Although not quite as hilarious as my friend Trazy's guy friend (or boy friend? I honestly don't know) named Matt barking at a ghoulie who was barking at him at the Forest of Fear on Saturday. That quite honestly was magical. Why she was barking (or perhaps why she thought that would scare anyone) is beyond me. For my part, I howled like a wolf at her. It was almost a full moon after all.

Truth be told, the Forest of Fear was so goddamn funny.. I nearly pissed myself laughing. The set up is a path through the woods.. of course you have the ghoulies trying to jump out and scare you. Trazy, her friend Ang, Matt and I were lumped together with a huge group of easily freaked out girls. So hilarity ensues. Along the path, we had to go through a few rooms. One of which was all polka-dots. Trazy was like, "Oh no! Not polka-dots!!" I mean, it was a black light effect and there was a guy in there who was dressed in the same kinda spots so he blended in.. but not scary.

Then, we came upon these girls dressed up as witches I think.. or maybe they were meant to be vampires.. I don't really know. They were like, "You wanna plaaaaaaaaaaay?" to which I quickly replied, "Sure! Wanna play Euchre? No? How about Monopoly?" Yeah.. pretty much no response.

Then we came upon the clowns. I asked if they did balloon animals or juggled.. they too ignored me (sorta noticing a trend here, eh?).

It went on like that pretty much the whole time.. hell, even the end.. you know how these haunted houses always have a chainsaw guy who chases you out right? Well, he scared the girls in front of us out but good.. then Matt asked him, "Hey, what brand of chainsaw is that?" He got ignored.. heh. So I was at the very back of the group.. and what'd he do? Turned his chainsaw off! That cracked me up, but I still had to ask..

"Really?? You're not even gonna try??"

*sighs and grins* Guess that's what happens when you're cynical in a haunted house. Or haunted woods. Whatever. It was worth the $10. The trick is getting you to suspend your disbelief. That's the way to truly scare people. If they forget it's not real, then there you go. Like.. the first ever haunted house I ever went to was actually called a Haunted Funeral Home. It was fairly creepy, but the way they got me scared right off (other than me never having gone to one before) was that they separated my group of friends by having us each go through our own coffin door, and we were faced alone with pitch blackness.

Now.. there was nothing in the darkness.. but it scared the hell out of me to think I would have to face the haunted house alone, and not knowing if something was going to jump out at me in the dark. The rest isn't very memorable, except at the end.. now THAT chainsaw guy didn't like that he didn't scare me, so he actually hit my elbow with the chainsaw.. which freaking hurt. I ran out at that point.. eek.

Think I'm done rambling.. should try and get some sleep now. It's late. And I only have three hours left to sleep. Yay.

"coveted egg-white condiment" made me LOL. Thanks for that!
