When she saw the funny side, we introduced my child bride to whisky and gin...

03/11/2016

So, I got an interview for the job 2 hours away in Skipton.  This was a problem.  It's kinda pricey to travel there and back.

Thankfully, the job centre is supposed to help with that.  Now, I couldn't get the bus back as the last bus to Middlesbrough left before the interview was over.

However, the job centre would only pay for the cheapest form of transport.  So, I had to look online to find out the times and prices of the local service from Skipton to Leeds.

I left the house at 8am and didn't get back until after 9pm.  And it was uncomfortable.

I spent an hour and a half before the interview wandering round Skipton.  It's a gorgeous place.

Then i went in for the interview.  And accidentally ended up in a meeting.  That was sorted out and I went for the actual interview.  I had a role play where I pretended i was doing the job.  That went well.  I got praised in general but a tiny bit of negative feedback.  Then the interview itself which seemed to go OK.

I was assured that I'd hear back by today at the latest, but it's already 3:30 and nothing.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

On the plus side, at least they didn't phone when I was on my way home or first thing yesterday.  That has to be a good thing.

I did get another call yesterday.  I had applied, ages ago, for a job with the police, reviewing files to see if they need to be kept of if they can be junked.  It sounds fascinating.  The agency has said that my experience with Barclays and Firstsource puts me in an excellent position to at least get an interview.

So there's that.

I also did a bit of trainspotting yesterday.  The Flying Scotsman has been rebuilt and was passing through Middlesbrough.  So I went to see it and it was delayed because of trespassers on the line.  Seriously.  I bumped into a friend there and went to the pub with him and various others.  Which descended into randomly talking about a variety of different topics.  There was a girl there who looked like Summer Glau.  Good times and good fun.

Now I'm watching TV and cooking chilli in the slow cooker.

Pics!

And away again

This one needs some explanation.  They put artwork up on the underpass at the train station.  At the moment, it's posters based on songs.  This is one of my favourite songs, by one of my Favourite bands.  The State I Am In by Belle & Sebastian:

Good luck William with your job hunt, I know how horrible it is looking for work. The police job sounds good. I used to work for the police and it was fascinating. Now I work for a criminal lawyers and it is just the same. Lol. I am supposed to be going to Skipton (Market) this summer so looking forward to it. It is part of a trip to visit Emmerdale Village.
