bringing a child into the world is an awesome responsibility and frightening on many levels. I'm happy that you are analyzing things and thinking of this. Just curious though, how does God teach us all this? That we are weak, that there is a never changing point of view?
It's not always the answers we need to seek after either, remember that even in those moments of not knowing we have places to go and God to help us out. CONGRATS!
"It’s a responsibility I might not get right, at first or ever, but I am ready to fight to raise my baby in a way that is right and Godly." I love that! Great entry, than you for sharing. (:
I totally agree. (I'm pregnant right now.) My Father taught me so much and knows so much, I'm worried I'm not smart enough! I want to have all the answers for my child like he did for me (pretty much.)
" we need to take the time with our children, be involved, and most importantly we need to see the little remarkable things that are happening right in front of our eyes." Exactly.
The role of a parent is the most important role/job/position any human can ever under take. You are right, so many are not ready for it and many do not understand the seriousness and lasting implications/impact it leaves on a child. I was lucky to have an awesome Dad whom I learned so much from. You are also right that children only know and believe what they are taught. Until they become young adults and then adults when they branch out and research things on their own. I questioned so much when I began doing that.
Glad to hear the movie was good also, taking my Adi to see it tomorrow.
I have different opinions than you do regarding many points in this post however I do understand your concern for your sister. And I believe you should do everything you can, in a non confrontational way to sway her away from going to meet him. Perhaps he could come here? Where she has a support system, I'm sure she has friends.
Each generation thinks the world is in shambles and will end soon, if you read back through history everyone has thought these things.
From your studies? Have you read the Qur'an? Or are you taking another's opinion of it from your studies. I have not read it yet but I recently purchased it to read and form my own opinions. It's quite possible this man thinks the same thing of the Bible, there in lies another dilemma. If two folks believe in something different they will both believe they are right but we really won't know until we die. And who is to say that the almighty God would not come to different peoples in different parts of the world in a way they would understand? Judge not, lest you be judged, eh?
Comparing the holocaust to abortion is a stretch in my opinion and the man even said it is subjective. Because people have different beliefs about when a fetus is human, is it at conception, is it when it has a form, is it when it can breath outside the womb, is it upon birth? Etc. Is the anti pregnancy drug administered at the ER an abortion? So many questions that return back to an individuals personal beliefs.
I think as a follow up to this they should do a video of anti abortion Christians that believe it is ok to kill doctors that perform abortions in order to save a life. Is that something you would agree with? Just to offer another perspective on the sanctity of life that this video portrayed.
When does the soul enter the human? That is another subject of debate among a lot of people.
Perhaps, as a middle road, the anti abortion activists would agree to adopt and take care of any baby someone wants to abort if they decide to go through with the birth.
This is such an emotional issue for so many people. Me being a man and having never been faced with such a situation allows me a more removed thought process from the emotions of being pregnant. What if you were told that giving birth you would certainly die and the baby had 2% chance of living. I'm sure people would say, that's in God's hands. But perhaps God gave us the ability to save ourselves in situations like that and believes it should be taken? I dunno, I'm too much of an analyzer.
Can you educate me a bit and tell me where in the Bible hell is explained?
btw - Stalin killed more Russians that Hitler killed Jews, maybe they should have used Stalin as the water mark.
The name is important; however, when we found our perfect name we didn't know it was truly the perfect name until we first laid eyes on our girls! Then you can see that Raylene is meant to be Raylene. I hope that makese sense!
Yay, congratulations! With both of my boys I had to wait until I saw them in the flesh before I knew there name. Actually that's a slight lie, I had a dream about "Ben" a few weeks before his birth, but I didn't declare it until he was born and thats when it stuck.. with Isaac he was about 4 days old before he got his name, because I kept trying names on him like outfits until one fit. I do put a lot of importance on a name.. it's the only part of their identity that you get to choose.
Names aren't too important, don't worry about making the biggest mistake. She may just hate any name you think is perfect, and have it changed later!
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, but I spent the last summer with deaf children, and we didn't know their names, and they didn't know ours, so we each just made up everyone's name! And people are still amazing people without names.
But I like the name Maya
The graphs are a bit misleading though, because recorded crime is not the same as actual crime. People report crime a lot more nowadays. And things like rape and sexual harassment and indecent exposure are far more recognised and therefore reported far more - which is a good thing, because back in the day, they were barely acknowledged. And things like child abuse got swept under the carpet. All those things happened just as much back in the day as now. In fact, for many crimes, people are now far more aware of consequences, because of the fact that these crimes are being recognised as such. The world isn't any more evil than it's always been - reading the Bible shows plenty of murder, rape and robbery going on there! ~
I loved that feeling. When I was pregnant with my youngest, I thought I felt movements as early as 12 weeks, but I just was never sure. (This was BEFORE I knew I was pregnant. ) God was telling me she was in there..
When I was 7 month pregnant my son flipped or like rolled over where I could see it, my husband had rented avatar and was watching it and i was having gall bladder attack (which I didn't know at the time.), but it was so cool. So it was cool and the only time he did it!!
