What symbolic icon do you mentally see when you hear the phrase "goodie two shoes"? I know what the main perception is when referring to the meaning of the phrase. I'm asking about about the symbol of that phrase.
For me, I mentally visualize a pair of black dress shoes which a child would wear. Simple but classy.
I used to be categorized by people as a "goodie two shoes", in case you were all wondering where this stream of thought originated from. I would still be considered one to this day by many people. There are a few people in my life who see past the spit shine and polish however. the way I imagine it, the gleaming black polish of the shoes portray an implied perfection. They would portray an innocence that may or may not be within the subject. They imply a neutrality, based upon the fact that black isn't really a "color" in the simplest form.
In real life, that implied neutrality or innocence may be a farce. There might be forces at work within the subject that the naked eye cannot see. The same goes for a pair of shoes. They get scratched, scuffed and worn out over time. The process of disintegration is not always apparent to the naked eye. One has to look closer to see what is happening beneath a surface of implied perfection.
If my life were a pair of children's shoes, it would be more likely be exemplified by shoes that have withstood the test of time and yet have survived.

Am I still conservative by nature and a rule follower for the most part? Yes I am. You can call me a "goodie two shoes" if you want. I can handle it and am proud of it. If I find something that needs to be stood up for, I will do it. I don't mindlessly follow the rules. I do have my own mind afterall.
