Rob had finished packing his suit case, he should of already left but Johnny stopped by and things got kinky. He chuckled in his head then walked into the living room. Bina was sitting wrapped in the sheet again, her hair even more tasseled. Every part of him wanted to gather her in his arms but he knew it wasn’t his best option, not at this point.
“I’ll be back in a couple weeks…” he nodded towards the door.
“So you are coming back?” Her voice was uneasy, it matched the look in her eyes.
“I think so, if it changes I’ll let you know some how.” Bina stood up and shuffled towards Rob. Her green eyes were big and watery.
“I’m sorry. I should of told you sooner.”
“Yes but you didn’t… I’ll talk to you later.”
“I love you.” She searched his face, it was hard and unreadable. There was a heavy feeling in her chest, she had done this and now she had to deal with it. She told him she loved him and she wasn’t sure he’d say it back and she couldn’t blame him. He nodded, picked up his suit case and walked out the door. Bina fell back on the couch, remembering what all had happened last night.
“You were married?”
“Yes” Bina stood up, walking around the bed. “There’s more than that…”
“Ok… hold on. What’s his name?”
“Lee, his name is Lee.” Bina shuddered in her skin and raked a hand through her long hair.
“How long were you married?”
“Six years” she said slowly.
“SIX?!”
“Yes… I didn’t tell you about it and I’m sorry, I should have.”
“What’s more than you have to tell me?”
“It’s two big things… You may not look at me the same way.”
“What?” Rob stood up, no longer able to sit.
“In those six years” she paused, she turned on the light and crossed over to Robert. She took a deep breath and sat back down on the bed by where he was standing. “In those six years, we created life.” She stood up again, Rob backed away from her.
“You mean..?”
“We have two children together. Bryan and Justice.”
“Where are they now?”
“He has them for the summer, they will be home in a couple weeks…” She wanted to touch him, hug him, have him hold her but she may have blew it all to pieces.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!” His voice was starting to raise.
“I honestly didn’t think it would come to this point. I didn’t think it would turn serious and when it did, I wasn’t thinking straight. I’m so sorry Robert…”
Rob sat on the foot of the bed, his head in his hands. It wasn’t the fact that she had children or had been married, it was that she kept it hidden from him. He looked around the room, there was nothing to suggesting that she was a mother.
“Why don’t you have any pictures of them up or anything?”
“Lee and I lived in town, we bought a house… then when we broke up, the kids and I moved back out here. I was in the process of getting my things out of storage when I met you.”
“Ok.” He rubbed his palms over his pants, stood up and paced into the hallway. “Why did your marriage break up?” He looked at her, an eyebrow arched. His eyes looked full with suspicion.
“Please don’t think like that…”
“I don’t know what to think” he gripped his hair then looked at her.
“He cheated on me”
“Oh…”
After that, they talked until morning. When Johnny came in Bina was getting ready to jump in the shower and Robert was gathering his clothes. He figured it’d be best to go back to LA, get his head straight, hang out with a few friends, and they would talk. In two weeks her kids would be home and would start school soon, in two weeks she hoped she would introduce them to Robert. She sighed and watched him drive away. He paused at the edge of the drive way for a few moments, her cell phone rang.
“Hello?”
“I love you too.”
She smiled and felt like things were going to be ok.
