Can't pronounce my name >_<

08/19/2010

Nuuuuuuuuu!
So I wakes up today after a horrifying dream that someone tried to burn Alistair (of Dragon Age fame) to death :o It was an alarming dream, even more alarming because a video game character was suddenly very much in the possession of burnable flesh *sobs*

ANYWAY! I've finally illicited a response from the university in Qingdao, Mr Chang finally gave me an address for the Fushan campus we need to register at. I'm also on the verge of getting the amount of fees we'll actually have to pay them *woo-hoo* It's such a culture shock, UK universities eternally send you email updates about what you need to provide, what'll happen when you arrive, hell, some of the more helpful ones even give you advice on how to get there. Not China. We literally got an acceptance letter saying: Providing you obey the laws and regulations fo the People's Republic of China we will welcome you to study at Qingdao *head-desk* I'm more concerned about what the hell the process is than their bloody laws and health-forms. Half the diseases they demanded we get tested for are more prevalent in China than anywhere else! I suppose they don't want other carriers entering the country, but it's insulting that somewhere that refuses to treat sick people if they can't provide insurance details sees reason to demand an NHS-citizen get a health check. Cos god knows what we could be carrying in our filthy capitalist bodies.

(I like China, really, but they're ridiculous. They seem to believe all diseases are spread, but not suffered, by westerners >_<)

It rained excessively today Tianjin doesn't have drains in the roads, so all the water flows to the side of the road and sits there, it's like jumping from the UK to America every time you use a crossing~

I returned to the sweet-shop of awesome-ness yester-eve as well ^______^ Tres happiful~ The assistant showed me to a section containing large boxes of chocolate for approx. £1.80 - Yes, 15 minutes was spent saying: "Shiba??? Shiba??? Shiba Kuai???? Zhen ma????" (18??? 18??? 18 Kuai??? Are you serious???) One thing I've definitely been lacking in this country is chocolate, so I got the darkest stuff they did (from Ghana) and injected it straight in to my veins. .. .. .. Just kidding. But it did satiate the cravings *nomnom* Still not very chocolaty considering it was dark... I might get several boxes and eat 3 at once to get my chocolate levels up <3

We seem to have fixed the phone problem with the hotel. James (bf) was calling the desk and it's one of those where the receptionist has to patch you through. Fair enough, but one of the receptionist's English is... abysmal, to say the least, and kept telling him there's no one in my room with my name. ... ... Naniiiii???? Eventually she rang me first and told me to get him to say my first name instead of my last name when he asks for me. Why you may ask? In China the forename is said after the surname... assumably in a hotel packed with westerners she would have recognised this might be the problem, but from her general attitude I get the feeling she's just being as facetious as she possibly can -___- Not amused, I don't appreciate being told what my name is by someone who can't pronounce it. End of.

LOVE TO THE WORLD *Chocolate high*

I hate dark chocolate! It doesn't even taste like chocolate, it just tastes bitter but if I was craving chocolate like you were then dark chocolate would do XD

How come they don't have drains What happens to the water then?

Usually I'm not too big on it either, but it was 18Kuai!! 18Kuai!! Still not over this

I don't know, it's really inconvenient, it collects in the cycle lanes so the cyclists have to go through nearly 1 foot of water - it does dry up really quickly... but that's because it's summer, god knows what happens in winter We'll probably skate to lessons...

^^ Chocolate here seems to be quite weak, Galaxy and Lindor haven't quite made it here I'm going to try the milk chocolate though, maybe it'll be suprisingly good...

we have hersheys, nestle, wonka, lindor, and about 100 other kinds here.

That's so mean... now all I can think of is the intense glory of a Lindor pack *drools* .. *attractive*

I've never actually understood the thing about Herscheys, don't really like it But my friend from Chicago is obsessed with it
