周末我看电影, 也病了一点儿
7/08/10- [Saturday -__-]
Exciting day today - I managed to sleep in until 2pm because I was totally not up until 2 in the morning watching Princess Hours It makes me sob, 3 hours of watching them all cry and being hopelessly dramtic about trivial things makes me so sad. Well, my main worry was that I'd missed breakfast. No youtiao 油条 for me today ;_____; I was contemplating giving up and staying in bed all day to watch Princess Hours... again... but I managed to drag myself up, get dressed and go to Binjiangdao 滨江道 A shopping street not unlike Nanjing Lu 南京路 in Shanghai 上海, but BETTER because there are cheap shops mixed in, whereas Nanjing Lu is totally over-run with Brad Pitt's face and Calvin Klein... <_< Anyway, I blame the long sleep on the curtains in the room, they're really efficient, in fact, when I woke up I thought the clocks had bust and it was still night-time because it was so dark!

Excuses aside, Binjiangdao was mucho fun, I bought a green top which I <3, it's also elasticated so my fat western body can fi in to it, seriously, there were so many clothes I liked today but I kept looking at the model wearing them and thinking "She's the size of an 8-year old. -___- My main conversation with the shop woman was: "Don't worry, see, it's stretchy“ *nodnod* I also got an umbrella, cos those of you ever caught with me when it rains will know that mine is kaputt. I also got socks... but not exciting ones, functional ones...

It's quite stressful shopping, most shop assistants are like: "OMG westerner, leave them alone *flee*” whilst others still attempt to sell things to you, and still more attempt to bamboozle you by yelling in Chinese in the hopes that your frail western mind will give in and give up the cash just to get away from them.
I'm still just getting used to being stared at, there are always these groups who see me, then whisper to each other, then the rest of the group will stare at me - Today I stared back when some shop assistants did it, and it upset me a bit that they just carried on staring at me, regardless of full eye-contact being made...-__- So I stormed off as soon as they decided to walk over and talk to me, juvenile, but satisfying. Another couple looked me up and down whilst I was queuing for the cinema, once again, I just stared back, my mood was improved by their discomfort ^^

Ah yes... the cinema... *cackle* Originally one massive stress, because I couldn't even read the title of any of the films, the film I wanted to see was your typical action film, and the English title was on the poster, but funnily enough none of the cashiers understood it, so I spent a while saying the first two words of the title Quan Cheng 全城 before they filled the rest in for me. I also queued up in a section which seems to be their equivalent of Orange Wednesdays, you need a special card for it and all the signs above the cash registers said stuff like "Gold Phone Service" or whatever, very confusing, the normal queue was craftily hidden around another corner.
The orginal film I wanted to see was a ghost story, but it wasn't on and after they played the trailer in the film I saw I'm bloody glad it wasn't on. A load of flashing images of a girl drowning, girl being raped, girl having sex with bf, bf screaming, bf getting rained on -__- Tres awful.
Anyway, Sabrina showed me the cinema after work yesterday and said we should go see Wang Leehom's new film next weekend, a film he has directed and starred in, and that has the same publicity going on as Hairspray <3 Leehom

全城戒备 was good, predictable, I understood a few things, not much, but enough to let me know the entire, typical storyline and who would die ^^ The film had subtitles, not for foreigners, but for the Chinese, I get the picture that there are so many accents and dialects that it's impossible to show a film without subtitles. Either way it was a big help for moi~
The star looked a bit like the beloved Edison Chen, but less pretty and more rugged, and the love interest apparently used to be a model (I know, alarm bells ringing) but she wasn't that bad. I recognised the female character who desperately wanted to marry her work-obsessed bf (so of course she had to die). Not a clue what her name is though~ I found it weird how relaxing the film was, the style was similiar to western films, so I just spent the entire film thinking: this isn't China - China's busy, everyone's shouting and talking all the time, and the only way to move on a crowd is to bring in a police contingent, none of that came across in this film, it seemed so (what I would call) normal. I wonder if that's what Chinese people think when they see western films though, that we don't act that way, not the guns and the car chases, I mean the way crowds and "normal people" are portrayed~

9/08/10 - [Today...]
Well yesterday was a bad day, I spent most of it lying in bed watching Princess Hours, when I finally yelled at myself to go do something active I went to the swimming pool. I stopped after 10 minutes thinking I was being really lazy, but as soon as I got out of the pool my head started spinning like a merry-go-round. The rest of the day I was freezing cold and my stomach felt llike it had been drained (exciting details, no? ) At least I'm alive today, though I was hoping for a day off work This is so much like school it's unbelievable, I spend the week waiting for the weekend and look for a sick day whenever I can
ANYWAY. Today is an equally frustrating day. I reformatted my computer before I came out here, to make it run faster, and it worked *Uno poi* Unfortunately the computer automatically re-installed Word 07. Now I know what you think: How can this be a disadvantage? Easy for me *nodnod* NO. It didn't reinstall the product key. Which means the product key, which is on the disc, is in Britain, whilst my version of Office has locked itself up because Microsoft are greedy bastards who think I've stolen the software. MAJOR PROBLEM is I need Office for the work I'm doing. The main point of contention against Microsoft atm is that, without a product key, they want to charge me £46 to email them to get help. *ANNOYANCE* Well, I'm downloading Open Office now, so hopefully that'll work *nodnod*
That said, if anyone wants to email me a copy of their Office 07 with product key *love* ^^

Wow craziness with the keys for microsoft word and stuff I don't have that updated of a version I have 2002 I believe and it is an original but it is copied along the way lmfao hehe I got it from someone cause they cheated and all
Omg I can't believe people stare at you taht much when you are there in China that is quite odd considering here I mean we are pretty diverse and have lots of people here and all but we don't take and stare at the different cultures and stuff. Plus I think it is kind of RUDE but I mean if you haven't seen a person from that culture you look but then don't stare and all. The thing is that sometimes we want to find out if they are japanese or something like that which would be nice but hard to tell sometimes haha.
Take care and Have a great day.
Love,
Jess
