Okay, now to the point of this entry. Who here knows that Oprah has retired? Okay, she doesn't have the talk show anymore. Well, my boyfriend wants me to write Oprah to see if she will give us money. HA! I thought he was joking! No, he is dead serious.I told him, "Honey, you KNOW she only gave money away for ratings right? Now that she doesn't have her show, she isn't going to give you jack shit." Correct me if I'm wrong here?
What the hell does he want me to say?
Dear Oprah,
We are poor (just like the rest of the 75% of Americans) and we have kids (like the other 85% of Americans) give us money so we can start a business and create a Get-rich-quick scheme and we promise we will pay you back!!!
Your biggest fans!!
Heather and Daniel
Um, those percentages aren't exact, of course. And I'm not even a fan of Oprah. Jesus. I don't know what the hell he is thinking, but I am seriously going to write a letter to Oprah just to prove my boyfriend wrong. Don't tell him this, but I secretly hope that I am the one that gets the "I told you so" and Oprah gives us tens of thousands of dollars.
Ridiculous.
The next stuff is all about school, so feel free to skip it.
Okay, I am in my last week of Psychology. I am attending school online, and I do one class at a time, for five weeks. So I have a little rant about school...
I was really looking forward to taking this class. I am enrolled to receive my Bachelors in Applied Behavioral Sciences, which is a fancy name for Licensed Counselor. I next want to get a Masters in Psychology. So, you can see why this class was exciting for me. Well, my instructor ruined it! She doesn't care! I have bitched in past entries about my classmates, they don't even try to follow instructions or spell beyond a third grade level, etc. My instructor not giving a shit makes it worse! Okay, get this. We turn in three discussion posts a week. It's set up a lot like the OD Boards. She gives us a subject to post on, it has to be 150-200 words, with one scholarly source and two in text citations. Then, we have to comment on two other classmates posts. And we are NOT supposed to say, "I agree, good job". They are supposed to be substantive responses, which means that it needs to add to the topic of the conversation, and to get the ball rolling, so to speak. Then the instructor will also go through and respond with a question, which you are expected to answer.
Okay, my first week, the instructor graded my posts and had accused me of not responding to all of my classmates as she instructed. BULL SHIT! But, the worst part of it is, she accused me of not doing all of my work, but gave me full credit! If she felt I didn't do all of my work, then I should have been docked. But she didn't. So if she didn't dock me, all of these other students that are putting ZERO effort probably have the same grade I do. So, my 97.8% means NOTHING.
I'm ready to move on to English Composition. English teachers are harder on you, and I am ready to EARN MY GRADE. Plus, I am badass at English.
And if any of my new readers know of any other ODer's attending online college, or even college for that matter, let me know! I am looking for people to read that I can relate to, and vice/versa,
Have a good one!
