Happy Halloween!

10/31/2012

Happy Halloween! I'm not looking forward to venturing out of the house, but I suppose I need to. Tomorrow, Daniel is taking me on a dinner date without the kids... Whew. I think we're going to TGIFriday's, I have only been there once like ten years ago, so I hope it doesn't suck.

I talked to my Mom last night. First of all, for the ones that don't know, my WHOLE family lives back east and has been effected by Sandy. Needless to say I have been worried SICK, especially with the photos that are in the media. My Uncle Terry and Aunt Teresa are in Jersey. They are without power but have a generator which helped. They lost a few trees and that's all. My Aunt Leica and my Mom are in Pennsylvania. There were very high winds and a lot of debris, but they have power and my Mom returned to work today. The area in PA she lives in was supposed to be in the eye of the storm, but the storm changed path so they were on the outskirts. My Grandma in Maryland is okay, just debris, and my cousin David in Florida only experienced wind. Whew.

So, at the end of the conversation, I grew some balls and went to tell her about the pregnancy. First, I need to give some back story... My mom is not very accepting. When I told her when I was pregnant with David, she told me to get an abortion. I didn't tell her about Tyler until I was five months along. In that case, she said some very hurtful things and basically called me a whore by stating I was going to have ten different babies by ten different guys. My take on it is that I am an adult and it's NONE of her business because she does not support me financially... or emotionally for that matter.

Okay, so on the the conversation. I started off by asking her, "Mom, are you in a good mood?" She says yeeaahh... why? I tell because I have some news for her. And I shit you not, she says, "You're pregnant and the baby's due in June." What the Fuck? I guess David broke the news to her the day after the wedding. Which I am happy about. She never said anything because she figured I would tell her when I was ready. She's concerned about my finances for some reason... I don't know why because I never talk about my finances with her. She wasn't super EXCITED, but she was like, eh, whatever. Apathetic I guess. She did say congratulations, so that's something I guess. I really don't know what to think, but I kind of wish I had a mother that would share my excitement.

Oh well, I guess.

Have a safe Halloween, everybody.
