When Time Finds your hiding spot

01/04/2011

By all means find another.

Another new year has arrived and gone from the welfare city among dying fish, falling birds, missing children, broken streets. I went to an ugly sweater party at my younger sister Sara's house. Fun was had by all. Pictures may be forthcoming but you could go blind from the hideousness of the sweaters.

My other young sister Katie had to work. After work she went home and her second baby-daddy came over drunk and yelled, cursed, and tried to break in. He threw a cinderblock through the glass of her backdoor, put his fist through her screen door and broke her car windshield with a brick. So now she filed a police report, has a restraining order against him, and is waiting for a custody hearing. Good times.

I usually avoid making New Years resolutions out of a cantankerous desire to avoid conformity. However things are in a state of flux at the house of Why and it appears to be a good time to evaluate my goals. So, in the next year I would like to -

- Finish the album I'm in the middle of before serious work starts on the horror score I've been offered for this spring.

- Act in another movie.

- Put a new band together or pull the old one back in.

- Get artwork published at least twice during the year.

- Fly a helicopter over a volcano.

- Ride along with Lee on one of his trips to visit the tribes in Peru.

- Start eating vegan again.

- Jump from a moving truck onto a pile of mattresses

- See more live music.

- Fight with someone while dressed in those big stuffed sumo suits

- Eat hot wings at a dive bar until I throw up.

- Strike up conversations with as many random strangers as possible.

- Paint a bigger picture than I have before.

- Catch a fly in a pair of chop sticks.

How was your new year, any new goals reaching you? If I am going to do all those things I will have to get started.

I leave you in the hands of Fever Ray. Maybe not for everyone but I find it a beautiful place to visit.

Thanks. =] I'm just tired of having been in chaos for YEARS.

RYC: interesting way to look at it. I don't see it as a crisis, but am always shattering what I thought I knew.

I had written a comment to this entry that was long, but didn't get all in because I used a symbol that deleted most of the comment upon posting it. I will try again when I am at a computer

RYC: I love Rock Sugar. Def. brings back the old party vibe from back in the day. Bella Morte have been around forever. They're one of the earlier bands to mix metal and darkwave together. As for 'Stak...Next to Jelly, there's not another rapper that I listen to more. Jelly and Stak are both from Nashville and are good friends. They both have a realism to their lyrics that I can just relate to. It's about growing up poor, white, and not really fitting in anywhere.

It took a minute for Sister Sin to grow on me. Her vocals are a bit unothodox but it's hard to deny their power. She definitely demands your attention.

Man, Buckethead is insane. I love that the dude releases like 10 CD's a year (or so it seems). If you dig Buckethead, DEFINITELY check out the solo stuff from John 5. I would love to see Buckethead, John 5, and Paul Gilbert do a record together. That would just be utter insanity.
