The courtroom and the seige.

10/01/2010

Someone tried to pull the air conditioner out of our bottom floor window to get in here late last night. I had screwed the air conditioner into the window frame so all they did was lift the entire thing up, make an awful racket and probably smash their fingers. I never saw who did it but my mind pictures them as the hamburglar. No burgers for you, you badly-mustached bastard!

People have tried to break in here three times this year. The only one who succeeded in getting through the door was superdoofus and he was caught because he tried to break into our neighbors immediately after leaving (see 2 entries back for the details).

A few weeks ago I went to court over the superdoofus incident. After passing a metal detector and an flatulent policeman we reached a waiting room that looked very much like the one at the DMV. What do you call that style of decorating? Boring chic? I digress. We waited with the owner of the business superdoofus had also broken into.

After a short time the victim's advocate walked up to us to ask about a plea deal they wanted to offer superdoofus. They thought that drugs were involved in the breakins and instead of felony breaking and entering they wanted to charge him with misdemeanor dedstruction of property and petit larceny. He would serve less jail time and then have to go through drug treatment.

We discussed this witht he business owner and decided we were fine with the plea deal, because at least superdoofus was not violent or threatening. After that they said we were done. We left the courtroom and received $10 for being subpoenaed. (life lesson, if you get ordered to court they pay you. Every cloud does have a silver lining )

Reacions to our decision to accept the plea range from "you did trhe right thing, at least his life won't be ruined" to "you are an idiot, drug treatment is not going to do anything." What do you think?

At any rate perhaps we should think about moving. Or buy a grenade launcher, whichever comes first. Hope things find you well and safe, and you are winning your own seige against the darker side of humanity. Peace and freedom.

I know all about going to the courts. I had to go when my roommate stole my car and took it to WV (from Ohio).. the hearing got rescheduled 4 or 5 times for various reasons.. the last time the Judge looked at me and apologized and said people are going to start thinking that we're dating because I was in there so much but I got paid every time at least... my case ended up going to a grand jury.

and RYC: Things are already changing for me. I think what I've been feeling is a clusterfuck before the release.

if he doesn't want the treatment, it won't do any good. but if he actually wants to clean himself up... well, then good on you for going with a way that might actually help him than going with the warehousing option.

ryc: I was kinda hoping to be the next virgin Mary. or in my case, born again virgin Jen. Kinda fun to say, don't you think? A majority of my readers are male, sorry you had to go through that. lol. I am still feeling "off" about it.. I even asked my mom if I was sexually molested as a kid that she never told me about because it was just a strange child-like occurance for me. I thought maybe writing it out would help with..something.. but it hasn't. Oh well. And I generally stay in anymore anyway.. I just may possibly sleep all weekend.....
