Inside the tornado

08/01/2011

Things have been very busy at the house of Why. This weekend we bought a bunch of pop rocks, had band practice, and sorted through material flotsam from E's deceased mother for hours.

We have a lot of new utensils, pans, and kitchen devices. I am the one who cooks here now and should be excited about that but I am not. I cook like an artist conjuring elaborate beautiful things, but the art form feels too temporary to invoke my passion. I would never cook at all if I could avoid it. For now we do what we must, tonight's dinner is mandarin orange rice with oriental vegetables and shredded beef arranged in the shape of a jesus face, prepared on one foot to the electric caterwauling of old KMFDM. Bon apetite.

I bought a new keyboard a couple of weeks ago and have been lusting after some other new musical equipment. Music and art supplies are my materialistic fetish. Most people have one area like this or another, what is yours?

The band may be back together, we reviewed some old material and discussed some ideas for a few live shows. Our bass player, who used to be mediocre, has improved greatly. We practice in a cramped room, the PA fills most of it and you can't see one another around it. When we move eventually we should be able to get a bigger music space.

We are shopping for a house, have looked at several things in town. We are going to get either an old Victorian mansion in town or something we can afford close to the ocean. One of the old places we looked at is haunted, has changed owners several times in recent years. An invisible little girl knocks on bedroom doors there at night calling for her mommy. This town has a lot of ghost activity come to think of it, a local psychic does haunted tours each Halloween. Most houses have ghosts, you just hope for good ones.

I may be startinig a new job with the company I am in right now. I would still be working from home but would be doing advanced technical research instead of the abstract analysis and reporting that I am doing now. Instead of solvng broad, open puzzles involving the company function and performance as a whole I would be solving detailed difficult puzzles on individual software systems that the other technicians could not. Still considering both sides, will decide soon.

Other than all that we are having Julian's birthday party next weekend and then immediately going on vacation to the beach for a week. Whew! I am off to plan and play keyboard music. I hope all is well with you.

Awesome to hear that you're playing and writing new music.

We've looked at a few of the big Victorian style houses where we live. Unfortunately, most of them have been broken down into apartment buildings by greedy slumlords.

Just wait until you hear the announcement we have coming for the network. It's gonna be EPIC.

Not sure if I have a fetish.. since Colorado I've been really into porn but thats not a usual thing. I don't really collect anything anymore either. My only addiction is Facebook. Oh wait.. I like popping the packing bubble paper if that counts.

awesome about the band.. I hope that works out for you.

A victorian mansion or house by the beach? Big Baller? I have no desire to own a home..ever.

Happy Birthday to Julian and I hope you have a fun and/or relaxing time at the beach

RYC: I've heard the new version. Stone and Jeff are very faithful to the music. Plain and simple though, Eddie simply has NONE of the charisma, style or presence that Andrew had.

There was a certain desperation in the singing on that CD. You could hear how he was lost between a world he so desired and one that he simply couldn't escape.
