Children,Abuse,Child Abuse

Imagine walking into a house, not your own. No one sees you, and you are able to observe this family at work. There is a young girl rushing to get the dishes clean, tears streaming down her face. She's skinny, and when she brushes her hair away from her face, you spot the bruise on her cheek. You follow her as she continues to clean the dining room, stealing bites of left overs. What kind of child has to steal food from her own table?

Once she's done, she returns to her room, and sits on the floor, indian style, her hands on her knees, afraid to move. As she sits there silently, her pain in her eyes, you hear screaming. She rushes up, only to be faced with an angry adult. The adult yells at her, telling her everything she did wrong, driving each point home with a punch. The tears flow as she begs for the beating to end. This angers the adult more who tells her to assume the position. As her mother leaves the room, she does just that, stripping out of her clothes, and bending over to reach her ankles. This exposes her fully to her mother's beating. She waits, shaking with fear, as she listens for her mother to return. Her heart is louder than anything however, and she doesn't know what's hit her until she feels the baseball bat hit her across her back, knocking her to the floor. Once the beating is over, she curls on the floor, crying. Her mother informs her that tonight she must sleep on the hardwood living room floor, but only after standing outside naked in the snow until she was ready for her to come back inside.

This is a day out of the life of a child who knows nothing but pain. An innocent child, her only sin being the sin of her birth. She wants love, but doesn't know what to do, who to turn to. She knows if she tells anyone that she will only get worse. She doesn't know what love is. She wants to do right, but can't seem to satisfy her mother. She wishes to eat, but never seems to please those around her. At night, her tears stain her pillow as she thinks of the beatings, wishing that she could be good. She wants the molestations and the pain to end. She wants to get full for once. She wonders if she can run away, or if she should just kill herself and end the pain.

What would you do? This child's life was horror everyday with no sign of help in sight. This is sadly the way of life for so many children. I should know...that girl was me.

Oh hon. I'm so sorry you had to live through that. No child should ever be put through what you were put through. A child should only know love. *hugs*
