P90X

02/09/2010

Dear me,

well I haven't been here since I started this thing. I bet most would expect that I quit before I got started... but quite the contrary. As I mentioned in my last entry, I started a 12wk program at the YMCA and I am currently in my 9th(?) week. I've almost completed it.. going to the gym approx an average of 4 days a week. I purchased a cycle of my own shortly before Christmas and when I can't make it to the gym or simply dont feel like going then I'll ride at least 30mins on my Bike at home. I have had 2 weeks where I didn't go to the gym at all (otherwise I'd only have 1 week left) ..that was the week of christmas and a week I got sick and had a friend visiting.. I allowed myself the time to take away from the gym so I wouldn't feel burnt out or like I was forcing myself to go. I enjoy going and don't ever want it to feel like I HAVE to make myself go.

I must admit though, Its getting a little boring.. even with adding new machines every 4 weeks. It was suggested by a friend of mine to try to P90x program before I even started going to the gym. I thought it would be too intense for me at the time since I hadn't done ANY exercise in a very very long time before I started going to the gym. But now that I have been going to the gym and feel more confident, I am ready to stretch my body a little more and go ahead into the P90X program. My only real concern is the nutritional part.. the program has me eating way more than I'm used to.. and I'll have to have more of a routine to my day so I can get into the habit of eating at appropriate times. This concerns me more than the actual physical part but I'm hoping that it will eventually become second nature. I'm going grocery shopping after work tonight for the week and plan to make out tomorrow's schedule some time tonight and start either tomorrow or wednesday.

Dance hasn't worked out since I hurt my foot. I am afraid to start it back up and do something worse to it so I've dropped that out of my life for now. BUT, I have picked up Yoga, which I think will be more essential to me and my body right now. I have only done it twice to a beginners video, but I love it. I plan to do this before bed since I'll have a lot going on during the day with finishing my last weeks of the Y program and starting the P90X. After I finish the Y program I may slow down on going to the gym until I get used to the P90X program.. but I'm not sure yet.. I'd like to continue both if I don't kill myself trying.

I haven't taken any measurements or checked my weight. I, and other people, have noticed a difference mostly in my face.. whenever I try and lose weight it always drops out from around my face first.. which I like ..I have noticed that my sides/stomach has come in a little and I'm getting definition in my upper arms/shoulders/back ...sometimes I think I look funny in certain places and not in a good way.. then I realize that my body is just changing and I'm not used to the changes and it may look strange at first.

anyway.. this is my update for now. I wanted to write a little and let the world know that I haven't given up or dropped away.. I'm still going decently strong and I think this year will be a big focus on the physical.

until next time..

-me

Random noter: I just saw the title on the main page - I'm a p90x user myself. I've started the program so many times and never have been able to finish it. However, my biggest mistake was overtraining. At that time, I was boxing as well and when I was in the chat group on beachbody, people said to not do anything with p90x or that would be considered overtraining.

So if you go all out with p90x, you probably will spend a lot less time at the gym. As for the meal plan, I haven't been able to follow it due to my household not following it - I have found that I still see results even when I don't follow the diet plan. So I wouldn't worry too much about the diet part.

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on! Just excited to see another potential p90x user other than me on Bloop.
