Am I UNDER eating? Please help

I know they say if you don't take in enough calories, your body goes into starvation mode. It will hold onto every morsel that you put into your body. I desperately want to lose weight but I want to make sure I am eating enough. Yesterday was day 1. I took in 480 calories. Today was day 2, I took in 627. Is that bad? What should my average intake be at a minimum?

they say 1200 calories a day. you need to eat more.

Yes, very minimum 1200. If you are working out, then more like 1400. And all calories are not equal. Getting 100 calories from a Snickers does not equal getting 100 calories from an apple. I suggest using Sparkpeople.com. It's free and it tracks calories and exercise, and gives you a pie chart of where you're getting your calories from and where you are lacking. Check it out.

Sparkpeople = awesome. And YES, you're WAY under eating.

Start by eating healthier and adding light exercise. You're going to be so fatigued, and still see no results, if you don't.

I just read an article on this. It was recommended that you determine your ideal weight, multiply it by ten, and use that to figure out how many calories you need to take in (120lbs = 1200 cal).

You can allot for additional caloric intake if you're busy or active... About 3 calories per pound or so. On days you work out, you should add in half of the calories you burn.
