Severe Sleep Apnea and hearing loss.

04/29/2011

My poor boy

Well, I got the results from Trystan's sleep test. I spoke to his throat specialist on Wednesday, and was told that Trystan has severe sleep apnea, and has also shown signs of hearing loss as well.

Which means, he absolutely no questions asked has to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out.

I have an apt next Wednesday with the throat specialist to further discuss what happens next and stuff.

I know a tonsilectomy is a pretty normal surgery to get done, but it's still scary as hell.

Sorry it's a short entry. Just wanted to update quick.

Ciao.

What were his AHI/RDI and his O2 desats?

I have absolutely no idea what that means...LoL. I have to go see his throat specialist next week to get more information about the results and stuff. He just basically gave me the results in a nutshell over the phone.

Ah ok. The AHI would be an overall number of how many times he stops breathing in an hour, and the O2 desat is how low his oxygen level drops at night.
For my son, he stopped breathing around 9 times an hour, and his oxygen dropped to around 90% I think it was.

He had his tonsils out on 4/19. I wont lie.. it was pretty rough.. he's just now started feeling better, and starting to eat.
You're doing the right thing though.. it will only help him, in the long run!
