Weekly update

07/06/2009

Since I am back at work I thought I'd go back to weekly updates. Plus it means I have a bit more than a few sentences to write.

I've joined facebook. I know I finally relented. I didn't have a mobile phone until 2001 either . Someone should tell them there is more than one Broxburn for the location!

Monday: Had the one on one interview with Carol at Asda. Went pretty well and was told I'd be contacted within 72 hours to inform me whether I had the job or not. I had a feeling I'd be phoned whilst I was driving so I put my mobile in the recess in front of the gearstick in the car. Sure enough I was right it rang and I got offered the job. I said I'd love to take it. So I am now employed again which is a blessing. It's only 24 and a half hours a week but at least it's something.

Tuesday: To celebrate I went into Livingston and bought some Millionaire Shortbread which I had been looking at for a while. Then I got two Wii games. A nice ultraviolent one called MadWorld (Simply because it had been reduced to £7.48) and Zak and Wiki as that had been reduced to £9.99.

Wednesday: The start of Asda induction. Everyone was handed their contracts with their hours on bar me. I was worried about this and wasn't going to sign it until they told me what hours I was working. They also said that I would finish at 5.30 it was 5.45 when I finished I was not impressed. Plus one girl kept asking the same questions over and over.

Thursday: Worked 10 til 5. Thankfully chatty big jugged woman wasn't in (and wont be for 2 weeks! Hurrah!). So we managed to get through training with the minimum of fuss and repetition. Bought Frijj one cookie dough and one Strawberry just to see which one the mrs would want. In the morning I got a locker although it took me 3 minutes to find as they aren't numbered or in any sensible order. Checkouts haven't changed much apart from Asda now having bags for life.

Friday: Day off from work. Bonus the wife had the day off from her work as well. We did some housework in the morning, then in the afternoon we dedcided to vegetate and watch Tokyo Zombie on our DVD player upstairs. It wasn't brilliant but it was funny.

Saturday: First full shift at Asda. I didn't start until 10am but the mrs was running so late I gave her a lift to work. She started at 8.30am so I read some more of my book in the Asda canteen until it was time to start. Went into the personnel office to tell them what hours I was doing as my clocking in card still doesn't work. I hope they get it sorted soon! The work on the checkouts is easy enough, couple of mistakes but hey it was my first shift. Didn't get my last break so I shut my till 15 minutes early. Nine and a half hours and only half an hour break is not good! Signed up for some overtime 9 til 4 on Monday as it's a bank holiday and I get time and a half. .

Sunday: Got up, washed, walked the mrs to the bus stop came back to the house and played MadWorld on the Wii. Don't know how long I played for but it was a while. Now I'm here typing this.

Well done on getting a job, all that hunting has finally paid off.

Zak and Wiki is brilliant, and I've heard good things about Madworld too but it would give me a headache I think because of the graphics.
