Friday: Diversion Drama.

05/31/2009

As previously stated Friday was the day for pickup of the chest of drawers from Edinburgh. I had arranged to pick up the chest of drawers between 9 and 10 (ish) with the seller. I had got my route planned courtesy of the AA (That's the Automobile Association not Alcoholics Anonymous by the way!). However in Edinburgh they are currently re-installing the trams. It was a promise the SNP (Scottish National Party) had made to the Green Party so they could both rule as a coalition government here in Scotland. Personally I think it's a bit of a waste as we have more than one bus every 20 minutes going from Edinburgh to the airport which is an Airport only route. Plus another two buses on top of that, that also go to the Airport.

Anyway the long and short of it is this: Get into Edinburgh have to follow diversions (due to tramworks) going halfway parallel to Princess Street despite the fact I needed to cross the road to get to the West End to get to Marchmont. After much driving around and following (seemingly aimless) yellow diversion signs we get back onto a road I recognize. Luckily the Mrs knows this part of Edinburgh quite well. Manage to park just around the corner from the shop. We ring the bell and are greeted by an elderly lady. She must of been late 80's early 90's at least. Nice enough though. Crossed the road and put the drawers in the car. Next back to more diversions, all I wanted to do was turn left and get on the main road. Nope couldn't do it. Then have to go barreling around Edinburgh back streets go about three miles out of the way to come back on myself.

Still we got the drawers for £10 which isn't bad at all. The Mrs was stressed. She hates driving, even though it's me driving! If I had been driving a bus I could of taken the direct route!

It's absolutely boiling up here in Scotland. Haven't seen a rain cloud for some days. My skin has taken on it's tanned hue, which will remain for months like normal. I've had to cut the grass three weeks running as well. Must be super grass. I should Coco.

Applied for some more jobs, looking at one of them I think that's way too much work for the wage you start on.

Anyone see the final of Britains Got Talent? I'm glad the Diversity won. I honestly thought that they were the best. Simon Cowell must be thinking 'Damn not another dance act how am I going to promote that?'

Random Question: What's your favourite sweet/candy? (I think mine are jellybeans)

I have no idea what my favourite sweet is, stupid IBS means I can't eat them. My favourites used to be percy pigs from m&s. I do love cream eggs though, although they don't like me as much, which is sad.
We had a drive like that through cardiff last summer.
£10 for some drawers isn't bad at all.
