Got Jon's resume done, to a certain point, at least it's presentable and able to apply for basic jobs. He's put out several applications on Thur and Fri, and now we're just waiting to hear back from them. One replied yesterday and I guess he forgot he applied for this job, it isn't something that he would normally go for, so we think it may have been the wrong link or something, but at least he got a reply, which is better than any other attempts before, so the new resume must be a good thing. The big thing is that he applied at the company he used to work for about 20 years ago. He talked to one of his friends that still works there and he says they are desperate for glass blowers and have hired back as many people as they could find that used to work for them years ago. He was also told that 2-3 years ago the company was actually looking for him, in an attempt to hire him back then but even though he was readily findable, apparently they didn't need him that bad because no one ever contacted him, but now appears to be a more desperate time. Plus they are in mandatory overtime right now so he would start off getting huge amounts of money too, even if they did only hire him back at the same wage level that he left at, which was $23 or something like that but we are hoping for more because he has considerably more experience since then. There are a few not very good things about it, but which can possibly be worked around somehow...there are two shifts, one starts at 5, the other at 9, meaning that if he got the 5 am shift, he would have to get up at 3, and leave here by 4 because it takes at least 40 mins or more to get there, not counting any traffic or weather conditions and second, if he does get the 5 am shift, he may possibly have to move and keep a small apartment close to work because they generally work 10 hour days and our schedules here at home would be challenging, not impossible, as I have already thought of and offered different alternatives that are acceptable to him, however the drive would be a little difficult, however, not having hardly any traffic would make it exceedingly easier than normal. The one huge plus is that this company has amazingly awesome benefits and with all the extra money he would be making and saving and the wonderful coverage, he would be able to get his health issues taken care of and his quality of life would improve incredibly. He is very excited and we are anxiously awaiting to hear back from them, hoping and praying that they will send a positive response back soon, hopefully tomorrow. Please pray that this is the job for him and that he gets it because things are getting pretty desperate around here and he must find a job within the next few weeks, at the very latest by the end of the month.
