Dreams on paper

07/03/2012

So I'm writing a book. I have put peices together over the years, and I think I am finally ready to write it. It is my first book, and thank goodness I have a friend who will proof read! I love fantasy books. I loved the Dragon Lance novels, they were full of adventure and rich characters. My book will be fantasy. It will have pirates. I am very nervous about the length of a book. I don't want a short story. I want to write at least 500 pages. I want to have updates on the progress, without giving too much away. I hsve been wanting to get this on paper for a VERY long time. I hand wrote in a lot of notebooks whenever I had a chance. I am also worried because I STILL don't know how to use spell check! LOL
I can't name the book until I write it all out. I can't even name my entries without writing them first. There will be a glorious white castle on a cliffside. There will be love and death and suspense. And did I mention it will have PIRATES?! I'm so excited. I hope you will all read this book if I get it published.

Hi, thank you for the comment! If this helps with your writing, use part of your drama as part of your story. That's what I do. Of course a lot of it is made up, but I found that when I was in a crappy mood, I wrote the best because my feelings of hurt or whatever got transformed into a very exciting journey for someone else. Have a great day!

Exciting! You don't know this because it has been forever since I have mentioned it in my diary, but I, too have a fantasy story (Series of three books, I am thinking) that has been floating in my head for at least 8 or 9 years. It's crazy. Every time I try to sit down and write some, I get this block and don't know what to say. I guess I'm not the writing type... not fictional writing anyway.

So, I think the main character of your book should be named "Andrew," because you know... awesome name. (I am just kidding, btw... I am always trying to get my friends to name their children Andrew/Andrea, but it never works. :/)

When you finish this book and get your copyright, or get it published or whatever PLEASE let me be the first to know! I love purchasing things written by people I know. It makes me feel like I have famous friends.

Hope you have a great 4th.

Happy 4th to you also! And you know what? I WILL name a character Andrew (my main characters already have names) but you will be in there somewhere. Im sure you will all be the first to know, as I will probably write a VERY happy entry about it!
