It's A Love Story.<3
The year 2009, I was like any other teenage girl. I was little, I was outgoing, I always wanted to be the center of attention. I tried as hard as I could to make good grades in school, and I tried to exceed in everything that I did. That year, I weighed a little over a hundred pounds. Towards the end of the year, I started gaining weight, and my hands started to shake really bad. My family and I didn't understand it. We didn't do anything, though. We just thought maybe it was a change in my diet or something. That Christmas, I weighed almost 180 pounds. It was horrible. I hated the way that I looked. I had stretch marks all over my body ; My legs, thighs, stomach, breasts, arms. They were terrible. The tremors that I had got worse. I had to take two to three naps a day. I couldn't bend down to tie my shoes without breaking out into a sweat. So I got in to see my doctor. We went for the tremors, and that was all we went for. She sent me to a neurologist. Before she sent me, I had seen the words “Cushing Syndrome” written on her paper, but they were marked out. So before I went to see the neurologist, I did some research on the computer. Every symptom of Cushing Syndrome I had. Every single one. When I got to the neurologist, I told her about and showed her those marks on me, she thanked me and said that that had made her make up her mind that Cushing Syndrome was what I had, but I had to go see a specialist to diagnose it. A month or so later they got me into seeing Dr.Najarr in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. All summer of 2010 was spent going back and forth to Nashville for tests and scans. I basically spent my whole summer there. By this time, the doctors had sent a paper to the school for me to get home bound. Reasons being for that were; I couldn't stay up the whole day, I was getting made fun of because of my weight(I gained so much in such a little time), and I was too sick. Finally, they found that the tumor causing the Cushing Syndrome was in my pituitary gland, and they had to remove it. So I had consults with all of the doctors that were going to be involved. The Friday before my surgery, I was sent to the ER in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. I had gone to my doctor in Columbia, Tennessee and I was having trouble breathing, and my blood pressure was like 144/90 or something like that. So she sent me by ambulance to Vandy. I was terrified. But they ran tests on me and couldn't find anything wrong. So we went back home. That Wednesday I was back to have a CT scan to make sure of how they were going to remove the tumor. Thursday I went to have my surgery. Everybody that I loved and cared about showed up to be there for me. I didn't realize until then that so many people really care. My boyfriend couldn't be there because he had to work, but he was texting my cousin and my daddy to make sure I was okay. The surgeon went through my nose to get the tumor. I was completely knocked out, but the surgery was over around four that afternoon. I was in the hospital for 4 days. After I left, I had to come back in a week to have the stuff that they stuffed in my nose removed. I was so glad to have that stuff out, I could finally breath. But I had to take a lot of medicine, and I had a long road to recovery. As of now, I am still on my medicine, but every two weeks my dosage is being lowered. I still get sick every once in a while. I don't have to see my specialist but every three months now. I'm able to get out more. I'm still being home schooled, and will be the rest of my junior year. Everything is working out great, and I'm trying to lose all the weight that I gained. To this day, God is my hero. I put my life into his hands. Always and forever.
