One Tuesday Morning (Book Review)

01/18/2011

Title: One Tuesday Morning
Author: Karen Kingsbury
Pages: 333
Genre: Fiction

One Tuesday Morning is a fictionalized depiction of the events leading up to and following the horrific terrorist attack against the United States on 9/11/2001. It follows the lives of two families, the Bryan family and the Michaels family, both touched by the tragedy in a way that would change their lives and family dynamics forever. It is a story of God’s faithfulness and love in one of the greatest tests of faith anyone would ever know, and how even in the midst of such horror, God can be found in his always gentle and loving ways, as a stronghold. Faith plays a major part in this book as it is both discovered for the first time, and rediscovered after a long absence. One Tuesday Morning is also the story of how one person’s life can touch the lives of friends and strangers and make a huge difference that will be forever felt.

To say anything more about the plot of this book would give it away, but the story gripped me right from the beginning and held me all the way through the end. It’s clear, as you read the book, the ending will be a bit predictable, and you the reader know what’s happening long before the characters in the book catch up, but being involved in the processes and struggles each character goes through far outweighs the predictability. It’s well worth the time to read it, as it puts you right in the midst of 9/11, and even though the account is completely fiction, the story could have happened during of one of our country’s very real tragic events.
