Time Limit for Posting?

I've been noticing lately that anciently old threads keep getting brought back to the main page because people are going and posting in them.

I'd like to suggest some sort of time limit for posting in these threads. Like, locking the post six (or so) months after the last post was made.

I personally think it's really lame when someone posts in a thread from two years ago. I go in the thread expecting something new, and I just see something that I've already read. I feel like when a thread dies, it should stay dead. But maybe that's just me.

I agree, although I think the time should be shorter, like closer to 3 months.

I have to admit - I do hate it when i click on a thread only to find out that the main body of it is like 2 years old and there's only been one new response. I feel all disappointed haha. A time frame would be ideal.

I thought Steve did implement an auto-closure of threads? And there was a big debate as to how long the time period should be and then it was settled as 10 days? Did that go out of effect with the crash or something?

@Lithium Layouts.: I also remember them being locked when they got moved into the Bloop Drama section - which isn't the case anymore :(

Agreed. I think it should be like a month. If no one has posted anything in the forum for 30 days, I mean... really?

i'd go two weeks really. bloop's forums are pretty retarded to be honest. no editing, no way of actually locking, no moderation.

@Meghans Follie: it's not even your fault! ;D It's the person who posted in the thread two years later!

Personally, I don't see the big deal. Better to have an old thread revived than see nothing new at all.

@Aiure: but the threads aren't "revived". It's just some random making one post that bumps it to the main page, and no one else ever posts in it, because they saw it when it was originally posted.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING IN THIS THREAD, AND I DEMAND THAT STEVE IMPLEMENT THESE CHANGES IMMEDIATELY, AND IF HE DOESN'T, WELL, HE'S GOT A ROUNDHOUSE COMING.

Yes, please... It's getting frustratingly out of hand with people going back and finding old threads to comment on!
