I’m considering taking a road trip in early April. The Indy Cars are racing at Barber Motorsports Park just outside Birmingham, AL and the tickets seem very reasonably priced. Looks like I can do the whole weekend, with parking and paddock passes for under $200 plus gas and motel. I had really hoped to go to Indianapolis for the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 this year but I don’t really see that happening unless I had a travel companion to share the driving and gas. According to Mapquest it would be over 10 hours to Indianapolis from here and I think that might be conservative. Birmingham is about half the distance and I’m familiar with that area. Of course, if anyone wants to make the pilgrimage to the Indianapolis 500 I could always change my plans…
I’m so glad it’s the weekend! It’s supposed to be mid 60s F and sunny here, I can hardly wait! I think I’ll go to the range Saturday morning then do some things around the house the rest of the day. Sunday I plan to smoke a pork shoulder and make pulled pork for sandwiches. My idea of a nice weekend, shooting and barbecue! |
