Not sure what to think of this

07/19/2010

Last Friday I was getting back from lunch when I passed my manager and one of my group walking out. I didn't think much of it but when I got to my desk they told me that the co-worker had just quit, or rather volunteered for layoff. I knew he wasn't happy with some things he was expected to do but I didn't expect him to just quit, and he even declined the opportunity to say goodbye to his co-workers as he was leaving. Then, when they were checking out his computer to make sure everything was logged off properly they found that he had e-mailed confidential information to himself at home before he left. Today when I got to work I learned that his status had been downgraded from "voluntarily laid off" to "fired" because of that.

I went out to mow my back yard Sunday evening just before sunset, partway through mowing one of the front wheels began to dangle. I've had problems with that before, I had to repair it two or three times last year. It's related to the powered front wheels and how the height adjusters work with the powered front wheels, I'm tired of repairing it because it's a poor design. I think I'll replace the mower before I mow again.

He knew something was coming and was trying to protect himself. It may or may not work but either way his leaving was not voluntary.
