The first part is from yesterday, I never got around to posting after I had written it in Word...
I feel like a human pincushion. Today was my annual health assessment at work, they took my weight and height and a sample of blood to test. As always, I felt faint after they drew blood. This year might have been one of the worst, I didn’t even make it out of the chair. The lady elevated my feet and they brought me orange juice which helped me recover quickly but it’s still a miserable feeling. It’s been a half hour and I’m still shaking off the weakness and cold sweats.
I know it’s been forever since I wrote. I’ve been very busy, we’re trying to submit a proposal to the government for a potential project next year to increase barrel life on machine guns so I’ve been testing and collecting data on three different machine guns. I’ve probably fired close to 4000 rounds per week for the past month, I should be wrapping up by the end of next week. Two weekends ago I drove up to Winston-Salem again but with the Spousal Unit and the googly-eyed dog along for the ride. I went to the races Friday night then we went shopping in Winston-Salem and Greensboro on Saturday. We also drove to our former apartment in High Point, we haven’t lived there since 1991 and she was shocked that I could find it so easily. Saturday night I went to the second night of the races then Sunday we checked out of the motel and we all went on a picnic up to Pilot Mountain. We used to drive up there rather often when we lived in High Point, we hadn’t been up there since some time in 1990. My best guess would have been May of 1990, by June I was very busy on a project there and was working a lot of extra hours. Then, by way of thanks for us busting our butts to get the project done ahead of schedule and in production in the late fall of 1990 the company laid off 1/3 of the team in February 1991 when Iraq invaded Kuwait and triggered the first Gulf War. There were fears of gasoline shortages and since the company made gasoline dispensers for convenience stores and other high-volume gasoline retailers the orders for gasoline dispensers fell to nothing until the uncertainty sorted itself out.

This part's from today:
Governor Sanford is supposed to be visiting our facility and taking a tour to include our Engineering firing range this afternoon so my testing is shut down for today. I think it’s just a ruse and he’ll be in Argentina with his girlfriend instead of here…
I’ll only be in for a half day tomorrow, I’m riding with a friend to Clemmons, NC for a model car show then staying for the races at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday night. I’ll be home again some time Sunday afternoon. As always when I attend a race or model car show, expect photos. |
