My weekends--

06/30/2014

The Pride Parade and Festival the 21st was fun. My mom, Morgan, and I stopped to watch the parade on the corner of - I kid you not - High Street and Gay Street. I'm still giggling. We parked under the State House - cheaper underground parking - and walked. I remembered to bring this plastic Radio Flyer wagon (is there any other brand??? lol) that my in-laws found somewhere, and Morgan and our stuff rode in that. There were THOUSANDS of people. Partly, the weather was mostly amazing. Mostly, George Takei was the Grand Marshal. Morgan did pretty well. The very first group, was of course, a group of motorcyclists. That scared her. She was interested in the marching band, since she loves drums and instruments. Plus the fact I knew one of the bass drummers. We decided most of the way through the parade to go ahead and meet my friends at the park. It felt like a five-mile walk. Through masses of humanity and vendors selling all things rainbow and hipsters and drag queens. (It wasn't the Doo Dah Parade (www.doodahparade.com), but they were getting ready. haha!) It was funny - my mom and I were reading t-shirts and telling each other not to look behind us. We ran into people we knew, of course. Columbus is like a small town that way. Among millions, you'll find people you know. Morgan got a butterfly pillow that benefitted the county AIDS task force. We did finally meet my friends in the "family area." There were two bounce houses and some simple toys out - bubbles, a riding toy, some mats to sit on. A grocery store had free fruit. Then, the humidity broke out. After my friends left, the three of us wandered the fesitival and vendors. There were a lot of places giving out free stuff. Walgreen's was the best. A reusable grocery bag, frisbee, bracelet, hand sanitizer, and a small first aid kit. We had tacos at this local food truck, Mojo TaGo, that were the best things ever. Soon, I was getting a bit clausterphobic, which is fairly unlike me, but I'm not one for huge crowds or big cities, either. Walking back to the car seemed to take forever, but there was a breeze. Morgan was thrilled with the rainbow-beaded necklace, a-la Mardi Gras. SHE DIDN'T NAP. Seriously. I was dying!

Then, this past Saturday, we had the "zip code" get-together/party thingy through my synagogue. We're supposed to get to know our neighbors, for friends and in case of some emergency. I went with my parents' neighbors. lol Like half the people have Celiac's, so everything was gluten-free. I had made deviled eggs and brought raspberries and blackberries, freshly picked form a farm around the corner from us. I made sure Morgan didn't hold the container on the way there! Though the gluten-free chocoalte cake pops were amazing. I might have had three... The family that hosted has two rescued chihuahuas. OMG cute and cuddly. I miss unconditional dog love!!!! THAT wore Morgan out. lol She fell asleep on me about 7 p.m. At 8, I got up from the couch and went upstairs with her. She basically fell asleep again! That has NEVER happened ever in the history of my daughter's existance! I got some reading done. I just re-started the "Temeraire" series by Naomi Novak. I had started the 1st book before, but put it down. I'm really enjoying it. I want a dragon SO bad.

I parade and festival sound like they were a good time! I'm not really one for large crowds either. Mmm tacos. I love tacos!

Ohh and raspberries and blueberries! Yum. I have some blueberries in my fridge. So tasty!

RYC: I don't take Dexedrine. I tried it once and it made me sick. Also I think it has ibuprofen in it and I can't have that due to stomach issues. My headache did end up eventually going away though!

I've been meaning to make an account there! Hopefully I will get around to doing that tonight. I do miss your updates.
