Can I swear if it involves the Rabbi?

03/28/2014

Lemme preface: it's a "good" swearing, not a bad thing. First, let me say that I've gotten a ton of compliments on my 1st Tikvah Topics. Let me also say I still hate it. lol Oh, well - hopefully, I have more to do so I can perfect it, or at least come to terms with it. Some of those compliments came from my second co-worker who is leaving me, Elaine, who is retiring at the end of the month. She would never tell me that she liked something if she didn't. And she even gave examples. The Rabbi also liked it, which is nearly a miracle. lol Yesterday, when I came into work, I thought I had about a 1/2 hour max of tweaking before I took over the copy machine for 500 copies of this 18-page booklet/magazine. Except I can't print 18 pages on 11X17-inch paper, folded over. It has to be divisible by 4. Which meant 16 pages! I spent 4 hours squishing the hell out of articles and ads and deleting and resizing before it was done. Then, I got to do "my" work - the weekly email to the Religious and Hebrew School parents and teachers, a separate one for a pottery painting activity, and one for the Rabbi for Elaine's retirement. And one for the two religious school fundraisers. When I left at 3:40, it was still printing. It was dropped off at the post office this morning. DONEDONEDONEDONEEFFINGDONE. lol

The Rabbi called me into his office, via Joanne, the receptionist. At almost 36 years old, I still think I'm in trouble! He hands me The Book of Letters by Lawrence Kushner. Which has been on my Barnes and Noble wish list for like 6 months. I think it was his copy, the one he came into the office with, and I made the comment. He even wrote a note inside it. SQUEE. HUGE HUGE SQUEE. It's Kabbalistic in nature, showing the power of the Hebrew letters in order, drawn like a combination of the midrash (with text in columns around the individual letter) and the Book of Kells (it's artfully done). Did I mention SQUEE?

Have ya'll figured out my level of Nerd yet? It's pretty high... No wonder I have 6 cats.
