At least it's sunny.

I had been hoping for more hours at work. The synagogue I belong to and work for is medium-sized, but the actual paid staff is small. Most of us are part-time. Most of my paycheck goes to Mo's preschool/daycare. Like I do ask Jamie for money for gas and groceries. Do you remember wishing for, say, more money, then amending the wish with "and no one dies!"? I should have amended mine with "none of my co-workers can leave!" (Okay, maybe one, but she'll leave when the Four Horsemen drag her out...) Our communications person, who does the web site and e-newsletters and the monthly newsletter and a million other things is moving to Baltimore! She's going to be doing the same job as she is here, at another synagogue, one that's HUGE. She started working here like two weeks after me, right out of college. We are all going to miss her! One of my other co-workers is retiring. She is truly awesome. She’s blunt, funny, and always shows me how I added up my payroll wrong. But at least, she’s staying in the area and will still be a member. They are my two office-mates. We share this small room with each other and the copier and a fax machine from the time of Moses.

I am nervous, though. I’ll get more hours, almost certainly. But, I’ll get a lot of her workload, too. The newsletters I’m okay with. My background is in advertising and graphic design, and I do that anyway for the education side. It’s the other minutiae I’m worried about. I have no clue about web design. Or press releases. Or the calendars for the synagogue. I guess I’ll learn…

I am so tired. I've been working on the email for the religious school for close to four hours. I'm not sure I'm ready for my two-year-old in a half hour... Okay, that's not quite fair - there's been other things I've been working on in between. That's just been the big one. Let's see if she will be ready for me. I got a "Bye, Mom!" before she had even gotten her coat off! Then, when I really left the room, several of her classmates told me "bye," too. That was adorable.

I'd love to get some writing done... The last time I did was last week when I had insomnia. I grabbed my notebook and a pen and sat in the guest room and scribbled a little. All I really got was some name changes and kind of a way to fit in this awesome anime dream I had.

Okay. Sigh. Time to steel myself for Super Morgan. (No, seriously, she wraps blankets and stuff around her shoulders, sticks out her arms backwards, and says, "Super Morgan!" I have video.)

It would be nice to have more hours, more responsibility can be a lot at first but I'm sure it would be worth it! I always hate when coworkers leave. It's like you become a family with the people you work with and when they leave it's just sad.

I use to make capes out of blankets too, and so did my little brother. He actually broke his arm once falling off the back of the sofa. We always say he was trying to fly.
