Therapy and Self Reflection

Accountability Partner

08/16/2020

A few days ago, I installed a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) on my body. I didn't realize what I was getting myself into. It takes a blood glucose reading every five minutes and displays it on my phone. I am a food addict, so my emotions dictate when and what I eat. There is conflict between my brain wanting to eat, in effect get high on food, and the empirical data on my phone showing there is no biological reason for me to stuff my face with ice cream. The monitor has been a wild ride and made it very stressful knowing exactly how unhealthy I am and how my behaviors need to change. I've been watching my numbers go up and down with each meal and insulin shot. I hope within the next few weeks, I'll have a better understanding of how my lifestyle effects my sugar.

I believe changing small behaviors is the right approach, so for the next month, I'd like to get a few small healthy habits in place.

I wish I had an accountability partner to help me stay motivated. It would involve helping me change my attitude. Brainwashing might have a negative connotation, but that is exactly what I need. I'm thinking of daily check-ins to make sure I've met my daily healthy habit goals. If I fail to accomplish my daily goals, I need to be asked the tough questions and reminded of my favorite quotes and mantras. I need to be reminded of the warrior philosophy until it becomes a part of my being. I would like to incorporate exercise into my daily routine, but I am not sure what that will look like yet.

Same. I need someone to stand next to me and shout “Put the chips down!” Fifteen times a day.
